Babcock Mortgage: Making Home Ownership Personal
For Bill and Susan Egan, Babcock Mortgage is much more than a mortgage company, it’s a reflection of the community they proudly call home. After moving to Babcock Ranch in 2019, the Egan's quickly realized that nearly all of their business was connected to the area through local residents, builders, and real estate professionals.
That local connection inspired the name Babcock Mortgage and strengthened their mission of helping neighbors navigate one of the most important financial decisions of their lives.
Susan Egan brings over 30 years of mortgage experience to the business and has built a reputation for solving difficult financing situations that others often cannot. “We’re impeccable with our word,” Susan shared during the interview. “If we pre-approve a client, we do everything possible to make sure they get to the closing table.”
That dedication has helped Babcock Mortgage become a trusted and preferred lending partner throughout the community. Their expertise goes beyond traditional financing, they understand the unique details of the Babcock Ranch market, including USDA loan eligibility, builder incentives, new construction costs, and local appraisal trends.
Their knowledge and relationships often create opportunities for buyers who may otherwise struggle to purchase a home. In one recent example, the team stepped in to help a buyer who had been denied by a builder’s lender just two days before closing. In another case, clients closed with nearly $3,000 less in closing costs than expected because of careful planning and communication throughout the process.
Bill Egan’s journey into the mortgage industry came from a very different background. After spending 24 years as an ICU nurse, Bill transitioned into the mortgage business full-time following the birth of their daughter, Calliope (“Callie”), in 2020. The move also allowed him to help care for Susan’s mother while continuing to build a family-centered business alongside his wife.
“I think my nursing background helped shape how I work with clients,” Bill explained. “People are often stressed or overwhelmed during the mortgage process. We focus heavily on communication, education, and making people feel cared for.”
That philosophy is reflected in the company’s tagline: “Your family in finance. Home ownership made personal.”
Beyond mortgages, the Egan's are deeply involved in building community connections. Susan founded the Babcock Ranch Entrepreneur group in 2019 to help local business owners network and support one another. The couple is also known around town for using their branded golf cart to give clients and realtors tours of neighborhoods and homes throughout Babcock Ranch, adding a personal and fun touch to the homebuying experience.
Whether helping first-time buyers, self-employed borrowers, retirees, or families relocating to Southwest Florida, Bill and Susan continue to focus on one simple goal: treating every client like family while helping them build a stronger financial future.
