🧐 Did you know that CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) can approve enrollment caps on certain Medicare Advantage plans? What does this even mean = the insurance company has permission from the government to accept a limited number of members for the upcoming plan year.
This tool is typically used to promote stability in smaller, regional plans so that they don't have to completely exit their local market BUT this also means that beneficiaries need to open their Annual Notice of Change letter from their current plan to ensure they are not impacted.

Today, our agents Stephanie Dorsch Waszgis and Jodie Moreno, helped local, underserved seniors understand the importance of the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period. We realize that everyone is getting inundated with mail and annoying phone calls but our main message today at the educational presentation and to all the general public is DON'T DISCARD YOUR ANNUAL NOTICE OF CHANGE LETTER.
Every year, Part C (Medicare Advantage) and Part D (rx) plans are required to notify members of changes to their plan for the upcoming year which can include: changes to monthly premium, changes to copays or even notice that a plan is being discontinued.
Every year is important to stay on top of coverage changes, but this year is crucial for many so stay tuned!

📢📢📢The Medicare Annual Enrollment Period is right around the corner (Oct 15 - Dec 7) and 2027 Medicare & You handbooks started arriving in mailboxes yesterday! 📢📢📢
Very soon, Medicare beneficiaries will receive a notice (if you haven't already) called the Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) from their Part D or Medicare Advantage insurance carrier. Per CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) regulations the carrier must notify their members of changes for the upcoming plan year.

Recently I became a founding member of the Trusted Healthcare Alliance because the healthcare system in the US is extremely complicated, including navigating the world of insurance. Typically, Medicare beneficiaries (either due to disability or aged 65+) are the ones who rely the most on assistance from local professionals, like my team, to navigate these important choices. For those of you who may not know me as well, I started in the insurance industry back in 2005 working for large insurance companies then since 2013 I've owned and operated a local, independent agency that serves residents of Nebraska and Iowa.

Unfortunately and due to a variety of reasons, access to local and independent guidance is at risk. Since 2019, I have been actively involved on a local level collaborating with community health centers, community activist groups like NE Appleseed and Americans for Prosperity plus others WHETHER OR NOT I agreed with their stance. I viewed my presence and purpose at those functions as a way to provide real insurance knowledge and experience typically in places where only rhetoric and party loyalty seem to matter. Heck, I even spent a few hours last year preparing talking points for a NE State Senator on an insurance issue that costs Nebraskans MILLIONS of dollars each year. I didn't do the homework for her because we agree on all issues, rather she has a "seat at the table" and I wanted the facts to be presented.

The challenges we currently face can no longer be simply debated at a local level and we need voices from the industry to have a seat at the "Federal table". Amanda Brewton and Trusted Healthcare Alliance are doing exactly that! I agree with the mission which is "dedicated to restoring trust in healthcare through education, integrity, transparent advocacy, and people-first guidance" because that's precisely how we conduct ourselves at Smart Insurance Solutions.
