Last Saturday, First Security Bank and Trust Company was proud to sponsor and attend Freedom Fiesta, hosted by the Clara Luper Legacy Committee, in recognition of the 68th anniversary of the Oklahoma City Sit-Ins.

The evening was a meaningful opportunity to honor the courage, leadership, and legacy of those who stood for equality and change right here in Oklahoma City.

As a community bank, we believe supporting our community means more than providing financial services—it means showing up, honoring our history, and investing in the people and organizations working to build a stronger future.

We are grateful to the Clara Luper Legacy Committee for continuing to preserve this important history and create opportunities for our community to come together, reflect, and celebrate the progress that began with courageous action.

We were honored to be there, and even more honored to support the legacy.

Wrapping Up Our National Black Business Month Spotlight Series!

Yesterday, we closed out our month-long spotlight series with Ellum Realty Firm and owner — and what a way to end it!

Lacretia didn’t just share her own story; she used the opportunity to bring other Black-owned businesses into the spotlight as well. We were joined by Peaceful Pour Coffee, Oklahoma Law Cowboys, Live United Construction and Real Estate, and more. That spirit of collaboration and community made yesterday’s event such a special way to wrap up the series.

We also learned more about The Real Room Pod, the podcast connected to Ellum Realty Firm, and the many ways Lacretia continues to build, create, connect, and support other entrepreneurs in our community. She is truly doing big things!

Over the past month, we’ve had the opportunity to highlight four incredible Black-owned businesses, hear their stories, experience what they have to offer, and connect with the people behind the businesses.

A huge THANK YOU to all four businesses for welcoming First Security Bank & Trust Company and allowing us to share your stories. And thank you to everyone who showed up, supported these businesses, and followed along throughout the month.

We’re proud to support local businesses and strengthen the communities we serve — not just in August, but all year long. ❤️

Thank you for making our National Black Business Month Spotlight Series a success!

This past Saturday, First Security Bank and Trust Company was proud to sponsor the Urban League of Greater Oklahoma City, Inc. Small Business Expo and attend the Rise & Thrive Breakfast, where we had the opportunity to connect with entrepreneurs, support small businesses, and witness some incredible ideas during the Business Pitch Competition.

Congratulations to every entrepreneur who stepped up to pitch their business! Putting your vision in front of a room full of people takes courage, preparation, and determination. And congratulations to the pitch competition winners—your hard work and ideas truly stood out!

As a community bank, we believe our role goes beyond banking. Our mission is to empower communities and expand financial access, and events like these allow us to put that mission into action by supporting entrepreneurs, creating connections, and helping local businesses grow.

We are proud to invest in the people, businesses, and organizations that make our community stronger. When small businesses thrive, communities thrive—and that’s what community banking is all about.

🎉 Help Us Welcome Our Newest Mortgage Loan Originator! 🎉

We're excited to welcome Shakeyta to the First Security Bank team.

When she's not helping customers navigate the home-buying journey, Shakeyta enjoys serving her community by working at Norman Regional on the PCCU floor, volunteering with local organizations, and spending time at church.
We're thrilled to have her on our team and look forward to the knowledge, compassion, and dedication she'll bring to our customers and community.

Please join us in giving Shakeyta a warm First Security Bank welcome! 💙

Last Thursday, we had the honor of being part of the Men of Color Expo, an inspiring evening dedicated to recognizing achievement, leadership, and the impact men of color are making throughout our communities.

As a proud sponsor, First Security Bank and Trust Company was honored to support an event that celebrated so many incredible accomplishments. Our own Haylie Calicott, VP/Business Development Officer & MLO, had the opportunity to share a few words on behalf of the bank.

The evening also featured remarks from the President of Oklahoma City Community College, which graciously hosted the event, and a powerful keynote from the Mayor of Tulsa, who reminded us that sometimes the most impactful messages don't have to be the longest.

Most importantly, the evening was about recognition, representation, and celebrating those who are leading, serving, and creating opportunities for others.

We are proud to support events that shine a light on achievement and strengthen our community. Thank you to everyone who made the Men of Color Expo a memorable evening!
