Credit union membership offers many benefits. Here are just a few:

Credit unions are not-for-profit. This means that decisions are made with the members in mind, not a group of stockholders. The members own the credit union. A credit union is a financial cooperative. Members’ resources are pooled in order to provide low-cost, low-fee products. No matter how large or small a member’s accounts with the credit union may be, that member has equal ownership in the credit union. This means that the member can:

Run for the Board of Directors (the Board is comprised of members who serve as volunteers, meeting each month). Serve on any one of the member-comprised committees. Attend and vote at the Annual Meeting. These benefits are unique to credit unions, and cannot be found at banks! The credit union legacy is a long and proud one, and as a credit union member, you can be a part of that legacy.

It’s National Teller Appreciation Week, and we’re giving a big thank you to our member service teams in Oak Ridge and Knoxville. Their care, patience, and willingness to help are a big part of the experience we want every member to have when they walk through our doors.

Got old statements, receipts or paperwork piling up? It’s time to clear it out! 📄

Stop by our Oak Ridge Branch on Friday, October 9, from 10 a.m.–noon for our FREE Shred Day. Shred Pro will be on-site to securely shred paper documents, with up to four banker’s boxes or four trash bags accepted per vehicle.

Residents and businesses are welcome, so gather up the paperwork you no longer need and bring it by!

For Cybersecurity Awareness Month, take a few minutes to set up account alerts in digital banking. You can choose email, text, or in-app alerts to stay on top of activity across your accounts.

If something comes through that you don’t recognize, alerts help you take action sooner. If you already use account alerts, review your settings to make sure you’re receiving the notifications that are most useful to you.

Another 80 for 80 check is headed into the community! 💙

We recently presented Tennessee Out-Reach Center for Homeless (TORCH) with $4,000 through our 80 for 80 campaign. TORCH helps individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Anderson County connect with housing and other support, and these funds will help provide gas cards for their clients.

We’re so proud of everything TORCH does for our neighbors and happy to support their work through 80 for 80. Thank you, TORCH, for all you do!

Try spreading out the cost now. Think about how much you’d like to have saved, then divide that by the number of paychecks you have left before you’ll need it.

Saving $400 with eight paychecks to go? That’s $50 from each.

Pick an amount that works for your budget and start there. Your December budget will thank you!

National Coffee Day calls for a local cup! We’re lucky to have some great coffee shops around Oak Ridge and Knoxville. If you’re celebrating today, you can’t go wrong with:
