Bank of Marin was honored to serve as the presenting sponsor of Sacramento Business Journal’s Redefining the Core.

As Sacramento’s urban core works through a complex moment—rising costs, shifting demand, and continued growth in housing—it was valuable to hear a range of perspectives on what the future may hold.

Thank you, Sacramento Business Journal , for bringing together a strong group of voices and to the panelists for an engaging discussion. We’re glad to support conversations that help move our local economy forward.

While peak tax season may be behind us, the work continues year-round at Tax-Aid. Long after returns are filed, individuals and families may receive confusing IRS or Franchise Tax Board notices—often due to simple filing errors. With limited off season assistance and paid preparers often out of reach, Tax Aid fills a critical gap by providing free, expert, year-round tax support through skilled volunteer CPAs and financial professionals.

Tax-Aid strengthens financial stability across the Bay Area by helping clients access the full credits and refunds they’ve earned, while also offering workforce development programs that prepare students for careers in accounting, finance, and public service. We’re proud to support their important work.

More than just a day at the track, our signature Hot Laps event was a chance to step away from the day-to-day, enjoy great company, and create lasting memories

Our Marin, North Bay Commercial Banking and Construction Lending teams recently hosted at Sonoma Raceway —an adrenaline-filled, one-of-a-kind Bank of Marin experience that brought our guests and colleagues together for an unforgettable day on the track.

Led by Marin Commercial Banking Manager Peter Hsu—who wears many hats…or rather, helmets—this signature event reflects his unique background as a former licensed race car driver and current high-performance driving instructor. Now in its fifth year, Hot Laps continues to deliver speed, excitement, and connection.

Thank you to our incredible guests for joining us. We’re already looking forward to next year’s event!

T minus two weeks! Submissions for our Community Calendar Contest close Monday, June 15.

Each year, we invite Northern California high school students across our footprint to showcase their creativity for a chance to be featured in our annual calendar—celebrating the people, places, and spirit of the communities we serve.

Selected photography is showcased in our calendar which is shared from San Francisco to Placer County. The icing on the cake: the photography department of each selected student work receives a $250 donation.

Don’t miss your chance to be part of it—submit your photos today! More information: https://www.bankofmarin.com/about-us/community-resources/community-calendar/

In honor of , we’re proud to spotlight valued Bank of Marin client City Carpets—which, for 35 years, has been laying the groundwork across the North Bay as a trusted, family-owned business.
Leigh and her husband come from flooring industry families and set out to build a legacy of their own when they opened City Carpets in 1993. What began as a small mom-and-pop shop has grown into a thriving business with sister stores across the U.S., Australia, and New Zealand. As part of Carpet One—a co-op of independently owned flooring stores—City Carpets offers customers an expansive selection of high-quality products backed by personalized services.
Grounded in community, City Carpets prioritizes sustainability as a Marin County Certified Green Business—recycling materials, offering eco-friendly products, and helping customers make healthier choices for their homes.
Their crown jewel? Their people—many employees have been part of the team for 20 to 30 years, with multiple generations contributing to the company’s lasting success.
To Leigh, small businesses are the backbone of any community. They don’t just create local jobs and provide unique goods and services—they strengthen communities in meaningful ways, from donating time and resources to school auctions to supporting the arts, local sports teams, and community events.
Beyond its showroom, City Carpets continues to give back and is a proud supporter of Building for America’s Bravest, helping provide custom smart homes for injured veterans.
We’re proud to work with businesses like City Carpets that continue to build strong communities from the ground up.

In honor of , we’re proud to spotlight valued Bank of Marin client Troy Carlson, owner of Stage Nine Entertainment and Stage 9 Exhibits—two locally owned businesses that have been shaping the Sacramento region for more than 30 years.

Founded by Troy, a Sacramento State graduate who launched his first business while still in college, Stage Nine Entertainment began as a 500 square foot gift shop and has grown into an 8,000 square foot retail destination and beloved community cornerstone. Located in the heart of the Old Sacramento Waterfront, the store delivers a nostalgic experience filled with toys, games, memorabilia, animation art, and even a classic candy and confectionery shop.
Just across the river in West Sacramento, Stage 9 Exhibits designs, builds, and tours immersive exhibits for museums, science centers, fairs, and special events around the world. Its work blends storytelling, craftsmanship, and innovation—creating immersive experiences that educate, engage, and inspire audiences of all ages.

Next month, Troy and his team will unveil The Paperworks, a reimagined space adjacent to Stage Nine Entertainment featuring specialty retail, eateries, bars, art galleries, and a second floor exhibition venue bringing world class traveling exhibits to the region.

With a team of 40 employees—many who’ve been part of the Stage Nine family for decades—Troy is most proud of the legacy he’s built: a workplace rooted in family, community, and camaraderie. Deeply invested in Sacramento, he understands firsthand how small businesses stay closely connected to the communities they serve.

Small businesses like these don’t just operate in Sacramento—they help make it a vibrant place to live, work, and explore.
