Some invitations are more than just an opportunity to attend an event. They serve as a beautiful reminder of WHY you do what you do! 💙✨

A heartfelt thank you to Lora Fora, Director of Business and Corporate Development, for the invitation to attend Batten University (formerly Virginia Wesleyan University)'s President's Council Fall Meeting and Reception.

As a former educator, financial professional, and passionate community advocate, it was truly meaningful to connect with President Dr. Scott D. Miller, Dr. Deirdre Gonsalves-Jackson, Provost and Vice President, and Dr. Hope R. Sinclair, CEO of Communities In Schools of Hampton Roads, along with so many others committed to making a difference in our community.

But the highlight of my evening was meeting Jahki Mnemons-Mayo, an inspiring young business major whose journey, determination, and vision for his future truly touched me. I cannot wait to see the incredible things he will accomplish!

His story reminded me of the people who poured into me, believed in my potential, and helped open doors along my own journey. That is why I believe so strongly in paying it forward.

For me, community leadership isn't about having a seat at the table. It's about what you do with that seat and how you use it to make a difference.

One of my favorite sayings is, "People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care."

Sometimes our greatest investment isn't financial. It's the time we take to show up, listen, encourage, and pour into someone else.

Grateful. Honored. Inspired. 💙

Today, I had the privilege of being at New York Life’s Home Office for the African American Market Unit’s Elevate Symposium, surrounded by peers, mentors, and leaders who continue to inspire me.

To be asked to serve as a panelist and share a piece of my journey was truly an honor. I’ve been blessed to have people who came before me pour into me, encourage me, and help me grow—and I hope that by sharing my experiences, I can do the same for someone else coming behind and/or beside me.

I LOVE what I do because this is a PEOPLE business. Behind every policy, every plan, and every conversation is a person, a family, a dream, and a legacy. I never take lightly the trust people place in me when they allow me to be part of their financial journey.

I’m still learning. Still growing. Still being poured into—and now, blessed with opportunities to pour into others.

That’s what makes this journey so special. 💙

As I make my way to Home Office tomorrow, I had the opportunity to stop by the Edison, NJ General Office; and what started as a quick visit turned into an unexpected opportunity to share!

One of my mentors, Keri Washington Bah, a Partner in the Edison GO, extended an impromptu invitation for me to speak with some of the First Year and New Org agents on her team. Keri is an incredible Partner whose energy, leadership, and genuine investment in her agents is always evident. Thank you for making space for me to share a little of my journey and, just as importantly, to learn and collaborate with your team. 💙

And of course, it was great seeing one of my favorite veteran agents, Tori Carter! Even though she was busy with meetings, she still took time out to connect with me, and I truly appreciated it.

Sometimes the best moments aren’t planned. ✨ Connection, collaboration, and pouring into one another; that’s how we all grow.
