Dangerously cold weather is on the way, and Norfolk Community Services Board's Homeless Outreach team is in Winter Overflow Warning (WOW) mode and are out across the City making sure no one is without shelter.

🍽️ Day Services & Meals - Available 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily at The Center (1050 Tidewater Dr.)
⚠️ Emergency Overflow shelters and services are for Norfolk residents only and may be extended depending on weather conditions.

Today is PTS(D)* Awareness Day.

From the VA website, "Even though PTSD treatments work, most people who have PTSD don't get the help they need... Help us spread the word that PTSD treatment works. Everyone with PTSD—whether they are veterans or civilian survivors of sexual assault, serious accidents, natural disasters, or other traumatic events—needs to know that effective treatments can reduce symptoms and lead to a better quality of life."

If you know someone who is struggling, encourage them to get help today.

*PTS, or Post-Traumatic Stress, was formerly known as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. There has been a push to remove "disorder" in an attempt to de-stigmatize and better describe it, but as of the present PTSD is more recognizable.
