It went up over 1,800%. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

And according to industry data, the biggest reason isnโ€™t the credit bureaus themselvesโ€ฆ

Itโ€™s the licensing fees tied to the legacy FICO mortgage scoring models.

Hereโ€™s whatโ€™s happening behind the scenes ๐Ÿ‘‡

๐Ÿฆ Credit bureaus like Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion collect and maintain the consumer credit data.

๐Ÿ“Š Then they license the actual SCORE from FICO to provide the mortgage credit score lenders use.

The problem?

From 2020 to today, the score providersโ€™ share of the total cost reportedly jumped from about 9.5% to nearly 46% of the entire report cost.

Thatโ€™s a MASSIVE shift.

Now the industry is beginning to move toward something called VantageScore 4.0 โ€” a competing scoring model that may help lower costs and expand flexibility in mortgage lending.

Right now, scammers are pretending to be the Internal Revenue Service and telling people thereโ€™s a tax refund waiting for themโ€ฆ IF theyโ€™ll just โ€œverifyโ€ their Social Security number, bank info, or debit card on a fake website.

Hereโ€™s the truth:
โŒ The IRS is NOT going to text you, DM you, or email you asking for personal financial information to release your refund.

And sadly, many of these scams are specifically targeting our Baby Boomer parents and grandparents.

Please take a minute to check in with your loved ones and remind them:
โœ… Donโ€™t click suspicious links
โœ… Donโ€™t give personal info over the phone or text
โœ… Go directly to the official IRS website if you have questions about a refund
