Quitting smoking or va**ng can be one of the most loving gifts you give your heart... and you do not have to do it alone.

Take it one day, or one hour, at a time. If you stumble, do not turn that moment into shame. Begin again with grace. Your strength from within matters, and so does the support around you: family, trusted friends, community programs, and a qualified healthcare professional.

A doctor or other healthcare professional can help you find tools, programs, and a quit plan that fits your needs. Spiritual encouragement can help you stay hopeful, but it does not replace medical advice, clinical care, prescribed treatment, preventive care, or emergency services.

If you are ready, reach out today... ask for support, and let someone walk with you. A tobacco-free life is worth protecting.

Please share with someone who may need encouragement... Thank you.

If your service-connected prosthetic or orthopedic device is wearing out your outer clothing, or a prescribed skin medication is permanently staining it, there may be a VA clothing allowance worth checking... But not every Veteran with a prosthetic device qualifies. VA reviews your service-connected status, the specific device or medication, and the type of clothing damage.

For a new application or an added device or medication, VA Form 10-8678 is generally used. Applications may be accepted year-round, but eligibility for that benefit year generally must be established by August 1. Some Veterans with no changes may receive recurring payments without reapplying.

Rules, forms, deadlines, and payment amounts can change. Verify current requirements at VA.gov or with your VA Prosthetics & Sensory Aids Service department.

Important... Heart attack warning signs can include chest discomfort or pressure, shortness of breath, pain or discomfort in the arm, back, neck, jaw, or stomach, cold sweat, nausea, or lightheadedness.

Symptoms may be milder or different in women. Do not wait to see if they pass. Call 911 immediately. Do not drive yourself, emergency medical teams can begin care on the way to the hospital.

Being present and attentive helps us honor the gift of life and care for ourselves and those we love. Spiritual reflection may support peace of mind, but it does not replace medical advice, clinical care, prescribed treatment, preventive care, or emergency services.

If you think you or someone nearby may be having a heart attack, call 911 now. Please share this lifesaving reminder...

Seasonal vaccination conversations are one part of wise preventive care...

Bronx seniors and neighbors, please speak with a qualified healthcare professional about which vaccines may be recommended for your age, health history, and current needs.

Taking care of the body can be an act of gratitude. In The Divine Within, I reflect on listening inwardly, living wisely, and honoring the life we have been given.

Spiritual practices may offer reflection and encouragement, but they do not replace clinicians, preventive care, prescribed treatment, or emergency services.

Have you had a recent conversation with your healthcare professional about seasonal vaccines? Please share this reminder with someone you care about...

Enrolled in VA health care? VA dental eligibility is not automatic for every veteran.. Coverage may depend on eligibility categories, service-connected conditions, discharge or service status, and other current VA rules.

Before scheduling or planning care, check your current eligibility at VA.gov or contact a VA dental clinic directly. Rules and qualifying categories can change, so rely on the VA for the most accurate answer.

A walk with neighbors can do more than get us moving.. It can bring us closer together.

Community heart walks are a simple way to care for the physical heart while nurturing fellowship, encouragement, and reflection. As we walk together, we can listen, support one another, and reconnect with the Divine Within.

No one has to walk alone.. Every step shared with kindness can strengthen community.

Please remember: spiritual practices can complement, but do not replace, medical advice, clinical care, prescribed treatment, or preventive care. Walk at a pace that is right for you, and speak with a qualified healthcare professional about your health needs.

Invite a neighbor. Take a walk. Encourage someone today.. Please share.

Veterans and families: VA disability compensation and VA pension are different programs.

Disability compensation generally relates to disabilities connected to military service. VA pension is generally needs-based and may involve age, disability, income, net worth, and service requirements.

The rules are detailed, and individual facts matter. Do not assume that one program, or both, applies to you.

Watch the Veterans Help video and visit www.dbqdoc.info for educational information. Verify current eligibility and application requirements with VA.gov or an accredited representative.

Please share this with a veteran or family member who may benefit.

Listen for a moment... Your heart is always moving through its natural rhythm. Changes in heart rate, including heart rate variability, can remind us that steadiness does not mean never changing. It means returning, again and again, to balance.

Take a slow, comfortable breath. Let the inhale arrive. Let the exhale soften your body. In that quiet space, remember the steady presence of the Divine Within. God’s faithfulness is not dependent on the noise around you or the pace of your day..

Spiritual practices like prayer, reflection, and calm breathing may support a grounded life, but they complement, not replace, medical advice, clinical care, prescribed treatment, or preventive care. If you have concerns about your heart or breathing, speak with a qualified healthcare professional.

Stay present... stay steady... and trust that you are not alone. Please share with someone who may need a moment of peace today.

When a veteran or service member dies, surviving family members may have questions about Dependency and Indemnity Compensation, often called DIC.

DIC eligibility can depend on the circumstances of death, service history, relationship, marriage or dependency rules, and other VA requirements. It is separate from memorial benefits, and nothing should be assumed automatically.

Survivors can review current information at VA.gov and seek help from VA or an appropriately accredited representative.

Watch the Veterans Help video and visit www.dbqdoc.info. Please pass this resource to a family that may need reliable information.

Educational information only. This is not legal, financial, or benefits advice and does not replace VA guidance or qualified professional help. DBQ support does not guarantee DIC, eligibility, payment, processing speed, or any specific VA decision or outcome.
