Medicare scam calls are at an all-time high. If you are on Medicare or getting ready to go on to Medicare please do not talk to people that call you. I encourage you to work with a reputable agent, whether that be me or someone else. I specialize in Medicare and have been an agent for 18 years. Unfortunately seniors are targeted in many ways but right now they are getting bombarded and a lot of the information is misleading. If you would like my help please give me a call 386-566-1037.
Here’s what every senior needs to know:
Scam calls are not just annoying — they’re dangerous. Callers pose as Medicare, insurance companies, or even local providers to steal personal information and Medicare numbers. Once they have it, fraudulent billing and identity theft follows. Not only do they use the information to steal your identity but they move you to a different plan without your knowledge.
Key points everyone should know:
✔ Social Security/Medicare will never call you out of the blue.
✔ Licensed insurance agents are prohibited from cold calling to sell Medicare plans — it’s illegal but they do it EVERY day which is why I tell all of my clients if someone calls you hang up. They are very sneaky and all it takes is one wrong word and they will change your plan before you even realize what is happening
✔ Common tactics include fake “new card activation,” “special enrollment offers,” and promises of free medical equipment.

Open Enrollment starts on Saturday, Nov. 1st. This year it is more important than ever to look at your health insurance options. Aetna is leaving the state of Florida and Oscar is terminating all of their EPO plans and only offering HMO plans. In both cases if you do not pick a new plan the Marketplace will pick one for you. Some companies are increasing their rates more than 30%. Everyone is going to see higher than normal premiums if the government doesn't extend the "Enhanced Subsidies" but Florida Blue and Florida Health Care Plans is expecting to have the lowest rates in multiple counties in Florida. On top of what is potentially happening with subsidies, Aetna is leaving the state of Florida and Oscar is terminating all of their EPO plans (they are only going to offer HMO plans). In each case all of their members must choose a new plan or one will be chosen for them.
