Happy Friday! I want to talk about something that, especially if you're my age (36), probably isn't on your radar right now, but everyone has friends, parents, aunts/uncles, grandparents, or coworkers who may be facing this, and you can share this information with them. This is also something that can come at any of us at any time if you find yourself facing, God forbid, some sort of disability in your future, or end-stage renal disease.
That "something" is Medicare.
It's not something people give a lot of thought to until right before they have to, and it's really good to have a basic understanding of it so that you or the people you love have more information and confidence moving forward with such a big change. It's also good to arm yourself with knowledge because there's a lot of opportunistic, scammy people out there.
There are LOTS of regulations around Medicare, solely because there are so many dirtbags lurking, waiting to take advantage of people during this time, all for a quick buck.
You may be facing a switch to Medicare yourself, and your head may be spinning -- constant cold calls, junk mail, spam emails, TV commercials. Or maybe you know some people who say, "NEVER do a Medicare Advantage plan, you'll be stuck fighting the network!" Some people may say, "NEVER do a Supplement -- it's way too much money!" Which one is true?!
There's so much nuance and room for individuality with Medicare. It's a national program with an option for literally everyone. And, it's set up by the government, which is notoriously vague and confusing with their instructions and explanations. How could you possibly make sense of it all on your own?! Even the smartest among us who watched YouTube videos and read books would struggle to stay on top of each little rule and regulation and plan change year over year.
Bottom Line: You NEED a knowledgable, reputable agent who is able to cut through the noise and hone in on YOUR specific needs. Your doctors, your prescriptions, your health history, your budget -- this can all affect which path is right for you.
It is true that sometimes you can get "stuck" with a Medicare plan. You can also sometimes get stuck WITHOUT a Medicare plan if you miss an important deadline. Maybe you think you can just stay on Marketplace for a little longer since Part B is more expensive than what you're paying now. Maybe you don't think you can qualify for anything to reduce your Part B costs. Maybe you're still working, not taking Social Security yet, or maybe you're on employer group coverage. Do you need to get on Medicare? Should you just get Part A? That's why I'm here. My services are ALWAYS 100% FREE, and there are no dumb questions. There's something for everyone, and I'm here to help you find the right plan for you, your parents, your coworker that's retiring.. ANYONE facing a transition to Medicare. Would you share this with them? I'm here to help!
