The 2026 Social Security cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) is 2.8%, effective in January 2026. This means the average monthly retirement benefit will increase by about $56, rising from $2,015 to $2,071.

The increase also applies to other Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits.

The standard Medicare Part B premium for 2026 is $202.90 per month, an increase of $17.90 from the 2025 premium.

The annual deductible for Part B will be $283 for 2026, up from $257 in 2025. Higher-income earners will pay an additional Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount (IRMAA) on top of the standard premium.

Standard Premium: The standard monthly premium is $202.90.

Annual Deductible: The annual deductible you pay before Medicare starts to pay 80% of approved services is $283.

Income-Related Adjustments (IRMAA): If your income is above a certain threshold (based on your 2024 modified adjusted gross income), you will pay an additional monthly surcharge.

Reasons for Increase: The premium increase is attributed to rising healthcare costs, higher service utilization, and inflation in medical pricing.

The Medicare Annual Enrollment Period is approaching soon. Starting October 15th - December 7th is the time to make changes to your Medicare Advantage (Part C) and Prescription Drug plan (Part C) for a January 1, 2026 effective date.
