Miami Eye Clinic would like to extend its deepest gratitude to Dr. Saunya Burkhart of South Grand Vision for helping us continue patient care part time after the tragic passing of our beloved Dr. McFerron. Now, after a year of transition, we are pleased to announce we’ve hired a new full-time doctor to take care of our wonderful patients!
Dr. Travis Larson grew up in a close-knit family in Norfolk, Nebraska. It was there he learned the importance of hard work, integrity, and never being afraid to chase big dreams. A multi-sport athlete growing up, he joined the University of South Dakota Track and Field team as a high jumper, where he achieved a personal best of 6’11”, qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary Championships twice, and was honored as a NCAA Division I Academic All-American. He also earned a degree in Health Sciences that led him into the field of eye care.
After graduation, Dr. Larson relocated to Tahlequah, Oklahoma, to attend NSU Oklahoma College of Optometry, a decision that changed his life in more ways than he expected. While developing a passion for Oklahoma’s strong optometric community and unmatched quality of full-scope, patient-centered care, he also discovered just how special the Oklahoma lifestyle and people are, especially his fiancée, a northeast Oklahoma native. The two of them enjoy spending their time together fishing on Grand Lake and playing golf.
Dr. Larson is looking forward to serving the patients at the Miami Eye Clinic, building lasting relationships, providing the highest quality eye care, and becoming a trusted member of the community for many years to come. And, we think Dr. McFerron would have really liked him. 😊 Please join us in welcoming Dr. Larson!
