We are proud to celebrate Sharon Allen’s induction into the Arkansas Women's Hall of Fame today. 💙

Sharon served Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield for more than 40 years, beginning as a claims processor in 1968 and rising through the organization to become our first female chief operating officer in 1997 and president in 2002.

Her leadership helped advance preventive care, wellness, Medicare expertise and technology across our company and the healthcare industry. But Sharon often said the most meaningful part of her work was the people — our members, employees and healthcare providers.

Her legacy continues through the Bridges-Allen Award, the highest employee recognition at Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield, honoring those who go above and beyond to improve the member experience.

Although Sharon died in 2021, her impact remains deeply woven into our organization. Please join us in celebrating this well-deserved honor.

Stable housing can provide a foundation. A supportive community can help someone begin rebuilding everything around it.

After surviving a house fire that nearly took his life, Jon Simmons spent almost a year hospitalized, relearned how to walk and eventually experienced nearly four years of homelessness.

His journey recently brought him to Providence Park Homes in Mabelvale, an innovative tiny-home community focused not only on permanent housing but also on dignity, safety, connection and supportive services.

“They brought me a lot more than just four walls and a roof over my head,” Jon said.

Support from the Blue & You Foundation for a Healthier Arkansas is helping Providence Park expand access to resources, including mental healthcare, substance use treatment and su***de prevention services for its neighbors.

For Jon, the impact is already tangible: a safe place to sleep, a community that knows him and an opportunity to use his own experience to encourage others through his work with Recovery Centers of Arkansas.
