Looking to try something a little different this season, or spice up your Cinco de Mayo menu? 🌵
Tacos de Nopales (cactus tacos) are a fresh, flavorful, and surprisingly approachable option.
Nopales (cactus paddles) have a mild, slightly tangy flavor, somewhere between green beans and peppers, and they’re a staple in many traditional Mexican dishes. When grilled or sautéed, they become tender and pair perfectly with simple, bright toppings.
Ingredients:
2–3 nopales (cactus paddles), cleaned and sliced
1 tbsp olive oil
1/2 onion, sliced
1 clove garlic, minced
Corn tortillas
Queso fresco (or feta)
Fresh cilantro
Lime wedges
Salsa of choice
Salt to taste
Directions:
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Add nopales and cook until tender (about 8–10 minutes), stirring occasionally.
Add onion and garlic; cook until softened. Season with salt.
Warm tortillas and fill with the nopales mixture.
Top with queso fresco, cilantro, a squeeze of lime, and salsa.
Simple, authentic, and full of flavor, these tacos are a great way to try something new. 🌮
