Health insurance can help reduce expenses for everyday medications and limit the burden of expensive services like surgeries.
Historically, health insurance coverage rates differ broadly by race and ethnicity. Since 2017, Hispanic individuals have had a lower insured rate than any other group. In 2020, 81.7% of Hispanic people had health insurance, down from about 84% in 2015.
