Refining the role of health insurance brokers could unlock a major augmentation of the US healthcare workforce.

On May 30th, we received some very unexpected news from Blue KC. They have informed us that they will be exiting the Medicare Advantage market at the end of 2024. While their plan of action for informing plan participants is still in the air, we have been able to use our connections and resources to figure out how this will play out.

First and foremost, you will be able to remain on your Blue KC plan with your current benefits until December 31st, 2024. As you know, we strongly believe you are entitled to a plan review each year. This AEP, we will be moving you to different carrier.

You will receive a notice from Blue KC in the month of June talking about other advantage plans in the area and promoting their Medicare Supplemental products. The official letter of “non-renewal” will be coming early in October.

As your broker and your representative, I hold a flag for you. I don’t work for any one insurance carrier, so we can make an informed decision on who to move to next.

As your trusted advisor, I wanted you to hear it from me first. I understand this will take some people by surprise, but I also want to have a game plan going into 2025.

To re-iterate, this will have no impact on your 2024 Blue KC plan.

***I’m very aware that many folks on Blue KC plans do not have agents that take the extra step like this, or perhaps do not have an agent at all. Please have them give me or my team a call if they need any guidance or reassurance through this process.***
