If you think a pipe in your home has frozen, don’t panic - but act quickly.

Here’s what to do:
• Shut off the main water supply if accessible to reduce risk of a burst
• Turn on the faucet - even a slow trickle helps relieve pressure
• Apply gentle heat only to exposed pipes using a hair dryer or space heater - never open flames
• Contact a professional plumber equipped to safely thaw frozen pipes and make repairs if necessary

If a pipe bursts or damage occurs, shut off your water immediately and contact a professional right away.

When pipes freeze, pressure builds — and they can burst suddenly once they thaw!

A few simple steps can help reduce the risk:
• Let faucets drip slightly during extreme cold
• Open cabinet doors under sinks to allow warm air in
• Keep your thermostat set consistently, even overnight
• Disconnect outdoor hoses & shut off exterior water lines if possible
