The Fed raised its policy rate 0.25% at its September meeting, as expected. Most policy makers forecast another increase in 2026. The Fed doesn't control mortgage rates directly, and investors had already priced in the change. Geopolitical events are more likely to have an impact on mortgage rates at this time.
