Don’t stand by — stand up against elder abuse. 💜
On World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, KLEFCU is helping bring awareness to one of the most common forms of elder abuse: financial exploitation.
Financial elder abuse can happen through scams, pressure from others, theft, or misuse of accounts. Knowing what to look for can help protect the seniors in our community.
Warning signs may include:
• Unusual withdrawals or account activity
• Sudden changes to accounts, beneficiaries, or documents
• Missing cash, checks, cards, or valuables
• Bills going unpaid despite available funds
• Pressure to send money, buy gift cards, or sign paperwork
• A new person suddenly managing finances or isolating the older adult
If something doesn’t feel right, speak up. Talk with a trusted family member, caregiver, financial institution, or local authorities.
Together, we can help protect older adults and keep our community safe. 💙
