Elder fraud happens when scammers target older adults and deceive them by promising goods, services, or financial benefits that don’t exist. Their goal is to gain access to personal information or money.

Here are a few ways to help prevent it:
🔒 Guard personal information
Never share sensitive details over the phone or online unless you are on a secure, verified website.
📵 Monitor communication
Be cautious of unexpected calls, texts, or messages from unknown numbers.
⏸️ Slow down and verify
Take your time before responding to urgent requests. If something feels off, contact a trusted family member or friend directly (not through social media) to confirm.

What to do if you or someone you know is a possible victim: report it to local law enforcement, the Federal Trade Commission at https://reportfraud.ftc.gov, and the Internet Crime Complaint Center at http://www.ic3.gov.
