1 of 3 things will happen when you pass away:

1) you are independently wealthy, so your family will be left with plenty of money to pay last expenses and keep their standard of living. (likely no one reading this)

2) a Go Fund Me page will be shared, and friends and family members will be called on to help cover funeral costs and emergency funds for your family.

3) life insurance protection covers your last expenses, income replacement, and major bills like your mortgage and other debt.

I can't help with #1, and my help is extremely limited for #2.

3 reasons why it's a BAD idea to hold off on buying life insurance:

1) Rates are higher as you get older. Once you purchase a plan your rate is locked in. It will never be cheaper than TODAY to start a plan.

2) Your health could change at any time. You may qualify for an excellent rate today, but any new health issues or new medications could cause higher premiums or even make you uninsurable. Once you lock in a rate then none of that matters.

3) None of us are guaranteed tomorrow. What type of financial burden would you leave for your family if you passed away today?

It's hard to believe, but I started my Texas Farm Bureau career 20 years ago today. Wow! Thank you to all of my amazing clients that put their trust in me because without you I wouldn't be here. I'm also thankful for my wife and kids that encourage me, and support me through all the late nights and taking phone calls after hours and weekends. Here's to another 20 years at the Bureau!
