📌Prepping for Peak Hurricane Season

🌀While Hurricane season stretches from June 1st to November 30th, we are quickly approaching PEAK hurricane season: mid- August through October. If you have not done your hurricane prep yet, it is imperative that you jump on it now. You don't want to be scrambling in the last moments when a storm may be heading our way and stuck in long lines at the store.
-Gather your important documents in one known area.
***If you need a copy of your current Declarations Page, please feel free to reach out to us.
-Know your evacuation zone.
-Have an evacuation plan.
-Update your Emergency Kit supplies.
-Know where to get local updates: each county typically has an Emergency Preparedness Dept you can follow online or that has an app to download.

📌On Juneteenth, we honor, reflect, and celebrate!

Today, in honor of Juneteenth, our office will be closed. Please read below to learn about this important day!

Per National Museum of African American History & Culture- Even though the Emancipation Proclamation was made effective in 1863, it could not be implemented in places still under Confederate control. As a result, in the westernmost Confederate state of Texas, enslaved people would not be free until much later. Freedom finally came on June 19, 1865, when some 2,000 Union troops arrived in Galveston Bay, Texas. The army announced that the more than 250,000 enslaved black people in the state, were free by executive decree. This day came to be known as "Juneteenth," by the newly freed people in Texas.

📌 Do you know the history of Flag Day?

Per History.com- On June 14, 1777, the Second Continental Congress took a break from writing the Articles of Confederation and passed a resolution stating that “the flag of the United States be 13 stripes, alternate red and white,” and that “the union be 13 stars, white in a blue field, representing a new constellation.”

Over 100 years later, in 1916, President Woodrow Wilson marked the anniversary of that decree by officially establishing June 14 as Flag Day.
