Nobody expects things to go wrong during a claim.

You assume it’s pretty straightforward:

Schedule the inspection.
Have someone come out.
Look at the damage.
Get it handled.

But sometimes… things don’t go as planned.

Inspections get rushed.
Damage gets overlooked.
Reports don’t match what’s actually going on with your home.

And before you know it, the whole claim starts to feel like it’s falling apart.

Not all at once — just little things stacking up until you’re left wondering what just happened.

That’s the part most homeowners don’t see coming.

It’s not always one big issue… it’s a bunch of small ones that turn into a bigger problem.

So yeah, the video might be a joke — but the idea behind it is real.

When it comes to your claim, you want things done the right way the first time.

It always starts the same way:

“Just following up on my claim…”

Then another call.
Another voicemail.
Another email checking for an update.

And suddenly you’ve entered the part of the claims process nobody warns you about:

waiting… and waiting… and waiting some more 😂

Homeowners deal with it.
Contractors deal with it.
Public adjusters deal with it.
Attorneys definitely deal with it.

At some point, everyone involved in claims has had that moment where you’re staring at your phone wondering if your email somehow disappeared into another dimension.

👇 Be honest — what’s the longest you’ve ever waited to hear back from an insurance company?

One of the hardest parts about a major fire claim is that homeowners are expected to make critical decisions while their lives are still in chaos.

After this lightning strike fire in Georgia, the initial numbers being discussed didn’t come close to reflecting the true scope of the damage.

But claims like this are about more than just what’s immediately visible.

The documentation matters.
The inspection process matters.
The way the loss is presented and supported matters.

In this case, through continued investigation, photographs, supporting documentation, and properly presenting the full scope of the loss, the claim ultimately went from roughly $41,000 to over $200,000.

Every claim is different, but one thing we consistently see is that homeowners often don’t realize how much detail and support is needed to fully evaluate a major loss.

If you’re going through a fire claim or another significant property loss, just know you don’t have to navigate it alone.

When people think about property damage claims, they usually focus on the house itself.

The roof.
The walls.
The floors.

But after a major loss, some of the most difficult and overwhelming parts of the claim involve what was inside the home.

Furniture.
Clothing.
Electronics.
Family items that took years to accumulate.

Contents claims are often much more detailed than people expect, and documenting everything properly can quickly become a full-time job on its own.

That’s why understanding the contents portion of your policy — and how those losses are evaluated — is such an important part of the process.

If you’re dealing with a loss and feel overwhelmed trying to account for everything that was damaged, you’re not alone.

Most homeowners have never been through a major insurance claim before.

So when damage happens, they do what they think they’re supposed to do:
file the claim, meet the adjuster, and trust the process.

The problem is, very few people are actually told what their role is in that process — or how much responsibility falls on the homeowner once the claim starts.

Documenting damage.
Understanding the policy.
Reviewing estimates.
Keeping track of deadlines, inspections, and communications.

That’s where having a public adjuster can completely change the experience.

Instead of trying to navigate everything on your own, you have someone focused on the claim from start to finish — making sure the damage is properly presented, the policy is being applied correctly, and nothing important gets overlooked.

Every claim is different, but one thing stays the same: the better informed and represented a homeowner is, the smoother the process tends to go.

📞 If you’ve never worked with a public adjuster before and have questions about the process, call our office anytime. We’re happy to walk you through it.

One of the biggest misconceptions after a wildfire is that if your house is still standing, you’re “fine.”

But for many homeowners, the damage isn’t always obvious from the street.

Smoke intrusion.
Soot contamination.
HVAC systems pulling particles through the home.
Damage to roofs, attics, insulation, and personal property.

These are the kinds of losses that often get overlooked, underestimated, or misunderstood early in the claims process.

And unlike a total loss, these claims usually require homeowners to actively prove what the fire and smoke exposure actually did to the property.

That’s where having the right documentation and guidance matters.

If you’ve been affected by the recent wildfires — even if your home didn’t burn down — don’t assume there’s no damage or no claim.

📞 Call our office if you have questions or need help understanding what to look for. We’re here to help however we can.
