Every day, I tell people to question things. Yes, we need to trust that a person is doing the right thing. In our intimate circle we have people we can lean on and we love them for that.

My dad used to say “trust but verify. “ I never knew the impact of that statement. Today, I have friends and family that I trust.

But this applies in so many things such as in our personal relationships , in our business interactions in our financial guidance, in our medical guidance and even in our research through the Internet. I just think we need to trust but verify.

Do you trust, but verify?

Have you ever asked yourself? How do people who have a lot of money don’t pay taxes or I’ve heard people say that the rich don’t pay taxes is that a rumor or is that true? The fact is everybody pays taxes but have you ever thought about what is tax mitigation?

What does tax mitigation mean?

In plain language:

*It’s about keeping more of your money

*Using rules in the tax code to your advantage

*Making smart financial decisions before taxes are due.

What it includes:

* Using tax advantage account accounts

*Claiming deductions and credits you qualify for

*Timing, income or expenses, (for example,
selling investments in a lower income year)

*Choosing investments that are taxed more favorably, (for example example long-term gains versus short-term gains)

What it is not
It is not tax evasion, which is what a lot of people think

It’s legal, and it just requires intentional planning
It’s such a grand privilege to be able to educate on things that are not widely known

As investors look beyond Middle East tensions, U.S. economic fundamentals are coming into sharper focus, driven by an accelerating AI investment and robust corporate profit growth, reinforcing the constructive case for equities. However, elevated inflation may keep rate cuts off the table and limit near-term progress in bond markets.

Senior Economist James McCann explains what this could mean for investors in our Weekly Market Wrap.

Some days start heavy.

Deadlines. Decisions. Responsibilities. People depending on you.

And then something simple happens — you sit outside with friends, share a meal, laugh a little longer than expected… and somehow you go home different than you left.

Lighter. Clearer. Stronger.

I’m always reminded that connection isn’t a distraction from our work and leadership — it’s what helps sustain it.

Many of the women I spend time with are business owners, professionals, and leaders carrying a lot behind the scenes. When we pause together, conversations shift from obligations to what really matters:

Family. Health. Purpose. Legacy. Joy.

Sometimes the most productive thing we can do is step away long enough to come back renewed.
