IPD / Innovative Pro Design

IPD / Innovative Pro Design The Best Dyno Proven Bolt-On power, IPD was founded in 2004 by Mike "Turbo" Kirakosyan. The IPD Plenums are designed, tested, and manufactured here in CA.

Innovative Pro Design (IPD) was founded in 2004 by Mike "Turbo" Kirakosyan. The IPD Plenums were conceived, developed, tested, proven and manufactured in the heart of the Porsche Tuning capital, Southern California. The IPD plenums evolved from the age old hot rod philosophy of "never leave good enough alone". The genius behind the IPD Intake Plenums is not only the patented "Y" design but also th

e geometry of diversion areas, optimization of bore sizes and internal surface area manipulation. Virtually all performance upgrades stem from man's innate and unstoppable quest for speed and power, and the IPD Plenums are no exception. Turbo Mike's "Need for Speed" is embedded in his DNA. His relentless pursuit of performance extends well beyond the Plenums. Mike is an accomplished fabricator, engine builder, tuner and all around Porsche expert. Back in 2000 Mike's personal 3.8 liter Porsche Twin Turbo was a daily driver developing over 1000 horsepower (at the flywheel) and capable of unheard of acceleration Watch the Video. This car was the test mule for all initial plenum designs and performed over 1000 dyno pulls during it's extensive developmental process. Mike's continual quest for more power combined with his passion for Porsches have yielded the ultimate Porsche performance upgrade, the IPD Intake Plenum. Mike spends endless hours on the dyno continually testing, tuning, modifying and retesting each plenum model until the perfect plenum design is achieved for each specific Porsche model. Early implementation of diversion splitters were cast and polished then installed inside the OE factory Porsche air distributor. These early "shoe horned" splitters yielded power gains but still required a larger opening near the throttle body for optimum performance. This is where today's single cast and machined IPD Plenum really performs and warranted a patent design. Although the concept of the patented "Y" design plenum appears simple and straight forward there is a science behind the diversion areas and optimization of volumetric efficiencies. It's only after countless prototypes and endless hours of dyno testing that an actual Plenum design is put into production. The entire IPD team is dedicated to providing the absolute best after market performance products for Porsche. IPD stands behind each and every plenum and our promised power claims with a 100% money back guarantee if not completely satisfied after 30 days. We back up our dyno proven performance claims with honest, knowledgeable and friendly service. So many manufacturers inflate their performance gains with questionable and unqualified dynos. We only advertise performance gains that we can consistently replicate and promise will be realized on our customer cars. IPD has substantially expanded its product range over the years and will continue to maintain this growth with new and innovative products. Even the current existing IPD product line, now covering more than 30 Porsche applications, under goes continual scrutiny and fine tuning improvements. Thousands of IPD Intake Plenums have been sold with over a 99% customer satisfaction rate which few manufactures can claim in any industry. We even have the skeptics covered with our 100% customer satisfaction guarantee. So if you're ready to increase the performance of your late model Porsche then look no further than the ultimate Porsche bolt on performance mod, the IPD Intake Plenum.

Here’s another impressive 991.2 Turbo S featuring some proven engine upgrades, including an IPD Plenum and Turbo Y-Pipe. These simple yet effective mods will literally transform the already visceral Turbo driving experience to the next level. This Turbo laid down some remarkable acceleration numbers with plenty of room for even more performance improvement, especially given the fact that these runs were on 92 octane fuel.

The IPD “Y” designed Plenum replaces the more turbulent factory “T” intake while our Y-Pipe allows great air flow with improved laminar flow into the throttle body, delivering higher velocity intake air flow for substantial net HP and TQ gains across both power curves, with both stock and modified Turbos.

Congrats to Justin and Sam on a great Turbo S with a very sexy stance.

Dusted off the dragy and did a quick pull! For a pump gas tune, 92 octane, on 3/4 tank of gas, full weight on 3 piece BBS wheels (36/38 psi) I’m super impressed! There haven’t been any revisions yet either. 🙏🏽 Sam , can’t wait to turn it up!

The 981 Cayman is one of the greatest mid-engine sports cars of all time, especially considering the bang for the buck factor. But as we all know, more power means more fun. This Cayman S with its 3.4L engine is forced to breathe through a restrictive 74mm throttle body, while its Carrera Non-S Cousin, with the same size 3.4L engine gets to enjoy breathing through a larger, more appropriately sized 82mm TB. Of course, this was all by design to keep the Cayman from encroaching upon that coveted Carrera territory.

While bigger isn’t necessarily better with turbo applications, it is almost always better with naturally aspirated applications, and this 3.4L engine is no exception. That’s why our 981 Comp Plenum requires upgrading to the larger 82mm GT3 TB. This allows for a 22.8% greater cross-sectional area for the engine to inhale that precious oxygen that improves combustion and elevates HP and TQ. Thanks to for representing with the IPD threads!

The 996 and 997.1 Carreras just might be the best bang for the buck Porsche on the market today. The timeless 911 lines combined with the classic quintessential naturally aspirated flat 6 makes it an iconic sports car. But these Carreras could definitely use some additional HP and TQ to keep up with their younger and faster siblings.

IPD offers 2 different 996/997 Carrera Plenums. Our Standard version that utilizes the factory 74mm Throttle Body, which is best suited for driving enthusiasts who prefer to keep their exhaust stock and want to save money by retaining their OE TB, while our Competition Plenum requires upgrading the larger 82mm GT3 TB, designed for customers with upgraded (or stock) exhaust systems and are looking for every ounce of power available from their 3.4L, 3.6L or 3.8L engines.

The efficiencies of the IPD Plenum and larger TB deliver impressive NET gains throughout both power curves, especially with this 996 “40 Year Anniversary Edition” that features a much-improved X51 engine. And being naturally aspirated, bigger is almost always better, even down low in the RPM band. Thanks to for sharing this impressive build.

The 991 Turbos are already a masterpiece of German machinery, but the GT2RS elevates the already tremendous Turbo into rarefied air territory that competes with modern hypercars. But of course, there is always room for even greater performance with some proven and reliable engine upgrades, including an IPD Plenum and Turbo Y-Pipe.

The combination of the Plenum and Y-Pipe delivers substantially improved intake airflow into the engine, providing net power gains across both power bands and minimizing turbo lag, allowing quicker access to all that glorious power and torque. Thanks to Sone Syndicate for sharing this incredible GT2RS project!

Porsche & Penske to Run IPD Liveries at Long Beach GP

Not only will both 963’s be running special IPD liveries to celebrate this year’s So Cal IMSA Sprint Race at the Long Beach GP, but factory drivers will be sharing driving duties with IPD employees, who have been logging in extensive hours on the driving simulator back in Weissach in preparation for the big event. Greg Martin (President of IPD) said, “It’s been 38 years since my lack luster karting career but at 58 years of age I think I can still be competitive after watching countless hours of in-car camera footage on TV. I might need a few warm-up laps, but I feel confident that IPD can help Porsche extend their points leads in the GTP championship”. Looking forward to tasting that sweet champagne on top of the podium on April 18th!

The IPD Plenums don’t typically increase engine sound(s) with naturally aspirated applications, but they do increase boost response which creates quicker spool up that delivers a much-improved engine soundtrack for those turbo applications. This 992 Carrera is enjoying the concrete acoustics of this parking garage to showcase the symphony of this forced inducted flat six 3.0 liter. Performance gains of 30+ WHP and 25+ WTQ plus an elevated listening experience, why would anyone even need a radio? Thanks for sharing 992.1GTS

Porsche Claims Double 1-2 Finishes in GTP and GTD Pro Classes at Sebring

Team Penske continues to make motorsport history with the prolific 963 and a repeat 1-2 victory at the 12 Hours of Sebring. This comes off the heels of an impressive Daytona 24 Hour victory. Previous Daytona winners Nasr, Andlauer and Heinrich managed to keep fellow Porsche drivers Estre, Vanthoor and Campbell in the rear-view mirrors when the checkered flag dropped. This victory marked the 20th overall win for Porsche at the famed endurance circuit.

In the GTD Pro class, customer teams Manthey and AO Racing brought home first and second place with the much improved 911 GT3 R. The last time Porsche scored a double triumph across two IMSA classes was in 2008.

Porsche’s 2026 season is off to the same start as 2025, with dominant performances at the 36 Hours of Florida. Hopefully they will keep the streak alive with another repeat win at their next stop at the Long Beach Grand Prix. Congrats to Penske & Porsche on another overall Sebring Race Win!
