Quick update from our "rental property"...
Unfortunately our renters moved on, something mysteriously got to the eggs, and now the nest is empty. We have spotted possibly the same ducks down the road searching for a better spot.
Turns out even the best-looking plans can change fast, which honestly feels like another reminder to appreciate the people and moments we have while they're here. We can do the right things, be patient, stay consistent... and still run into the unexpected. We need to be resilient, flexible and able to adjust when life throws something our way.
We've apparently become landlords.
A pair of ducks has decided to be temporary renters in our front landscape. We kept seeing them hanging around, and then realized they weren't just admiring my double-cut front yard - they'd already moved in and started a family.
Now there's a small nest hidden in our grasses, like they had a plan all along.
It's a good reminder that you don't need perfect timing to get started, but you do need to be intentional about where you build and how to protect it. The best plans usually look quiet and steady while they're unfolding.
Also... I didn't realize our landscape had this kind of curb appeal.
