A big congratulations to Jody Berry on 20 years and Laura Jackman on 5 years with Adams Insurance Service.

We’re incredibly grateful for the experience, dedication, personality, and hard work Jody and Laura bring to Adams every day. Good people make a good team, and we sure are lucky to have these two on ours. 👏

You outlived your term life policy. Now what? 🤠

First things first: good news, you’re still here! But that 20- or 30-year term life insurance policy you bought all those years ago? Well, its time may be running out.

Term life insurance can be an affordable way to help protect your family or business, but those level premiums don’t last forever. When the term ends, you could be looking at a hefty premium increase or a significantly reduced death benefit. After decades of paying the same premium, that can catch you off guard.

The best move? Don’t wait until the end of the trail to figure out what comes next. Know when your level term ends and start talking with your insurance agent about a year ahead of time. ⏳

From civil engineering and finance to community projects, Cheryl Erickson has covered quite a bit of ground over the years. 🌟

Cheryl joined Adams Insurance Service in 2024 with more than 30 years of professional and philanthropic experience under her belt. Along the way, she’s worked in construction and coal mining, financial analysis and asset acquisitions, and neighborhood revitalization. She started her career as a civil engineer in Ohio, earned her MBA, and made her way to Texas in 2000.

Cheryl loves a good challenge, believes in working hard, and has spent years finding ways to give back and help others. But her greatest accomplishment? Her family. ❤️ She and her husband, Jim, have been married since 1992 and have two sons.

Off the clock, you’ll find Cheryl hiking, reading, or tending to her backyard chickens. 🐔📚 We have a feeling those chickens keep her on her toes, too.

In his latest blog, Adams Insurance Service President Andy Adams takes on predictions that generative AI could eventually make the independent insurance agent a thing of the past. What happens to good old-fashioned customer service? AI can do plenty, but there’s a big difference between answering a question and actually understanding a client’s problem, finding the right solution, and being there when it counts.

Benefits renewal season is here, and if your broker simply hands you a spreadsheet and asks, “What do you want to do?” it might be time to ask a few more questions. 📊

So, what should you expect when renewal rolls around? Solutions, not just spreadsheets.

A renewal increase doesn’t tell the whole story. Your broker should be digging into what’s driving the numbers, negotiating with carriers, and bringing real options to the table. After all, five quotes don’t do you much good if none of them are the right fit.

And don’t let a cheaper premium fool you. Networks, prescriptions, deductibles, copays, and out-of-pocket costs all matter. A plan can look great on paper and still create a heap of headaches for your employees.

It also pays to look under every rock. Medical isn’t the only place to find savings, so your overall benefits package and contribution strategy should be part of the conversation. 🔍

Once the renewal is signed, the work isn’t over. Open enrollment, employee communication, payroll deductions, ID cards, and carrier setup all need to be squared away before the new plan takes effect.

The bottom line? Don’t just renew and hope for the best. Ask questions, understand your options, and make sure your benefits strategy works for your business and your people. 🤝

The Adams team has been making the rounds again, and we’ve covered quite a bit of ground lately.

We headed to the AGC Houston Safety Award Breakfast, where it was great to see several Adams clients recognized, including Chamberlin Roofing & Waterproofing, Flex-Erect, Griesenbeck Architectural Products, Holes Inc, MAREK, MEMCO Houston , and Karsten Interior Services. A special tip of the hat goes to Julian and the Griesenbeck team for taking home the Craftsman of the Year Award. That’s some well-earned recognition and a big accomplishment worth celebrating. 👏

We also made our way to American Subcontractors Association - Houston Chapter (ASA-HC)’s Schmooze & Mingle with Teal Construction Company, catching up with familiar faces from Holes Incorporated, Belk and Berger, Flex Erect, and more. It’s always good to get out, talk shop, and spend some time with our industry friends.

We squeezed in a little learning, too, at ASA Houston’s AI Lunch & Learn. The session gave subcontractors practical ways to put AI to work in their businesses, along with an AI Playbook and tools to help identify where it could make the biggest impact. 💡

Then it was off to Galveston for the annual Sandcastle Competition during the Galveston Sandcastle Festival, where local construction and architecture teams traded jobsites for sand and showed off some serious creativity.

From celebrating our clients and catching up with good folks to picking up a few new ideas along the way, it’s been another busy stretch for the Adams team.

A little safety know-how goes a long way, and our own Faith Boren has been out there putting it to work! 🦺

Faith recently spent the day with our friends at Acme Architectural Hardware, Inc., leading morning and afternoon safety refresher sessions for their associates. It was a chance to brush up on the basics, reinforce good safety habits, and make sure everyone keeps safety top of mind when it matters most.

Around here, we know a well-trained crew is one of the best tools you can have on the job. That’s why Faith and the Adams team are always ready to roll up their sleeves and help our clients keep safety front and center. ✅

Some signs point the way. This one takes us back to where it all started.

If you’ve stopped by the Adams Insurance Service office, you may have noticed the “ghost wall” in our lobby featuring a re-creation of the original Adams Insurance sign. We asked Texas sign painter Sean Starr, who specializes in bringing these old-school signs to life across the Lone Star State, to recreate this special piece of Adams history.

For us, it’s more than just something good-looking on the wall. It’s a reminder of our humble beginnings and of Maurice and Dorothy Adams, who built Adams Insurance Service with a commitment to taking care of their customers. That commitment to taking care of people is still a big part of who we are today. ❤️

We’re proud of where we came from, and it’s mighty nice having a piece of that history right here in the lobby to remind us.

Every good crew needs folks who know their stuff, and when it comes to employee benefits, Cristan Badillo certainly does. 👏

Cristan is our Senior Employee Benefits Specialist and has been part of the Adams team since 2018. She came to Adams with more than a decade of experience in group health benefits and knows her way around the benefits world. She brings plenty of drive, determination, and know-how to our team and the clients she works with.

A West Texas native who has called Houston home since she was two, Cristan is a Texas girl through and through. 🤠 When she’s not talking benefits, you’ll likely find her spending time with her husband, Marc, and family, spoiling her dog Zoe, cheering on the Astros and Texans, catching a movie, or planning the next family getaway.

Cristan brings a whole lot of heart and Texas spirit to the Adams crew, and we’re mighty glad to have her on our team! ❤️

Talk about bringing home some well-earned hardware! 🏆

A big congratulations to our client Hoggatt, LLC for taking home the top honor in the Hardscape and Landscape division at the 2026 Texas Masonry Council Golden Trowel Awards for the Sienna Crescent Spring Roundabout!

This one has quite a story behind it. Working alongside TBG Partners and BGA, Hoggatt helped develop the masonry design and bring it to life with plenty of skill, teamwork, and good old-fashioned know-how. The Hoggatt team was hands-on throughout the process, from working through the design to having boots on the ground as their skilled masons turned the vision into reality.

And the road to the Golden Trowel started right here in Houston. The project first won its category at the Associated Masonry Contractors of Houston competition in July, earning Hoggatt a spot at the statewide competition, where they came out on top once again. 👏

That’s a mighty impressive run and one worth celebrating!

Congratulations to the entire Hoggatt team on a job well done and some well-earned recognition. All of us at Adams Insurance Service are proud to work with good folks doing great work across Texas. Keep it up, team Hoggatt! 🎉
