We're tipping our hats to our client and friends at Chamberlin Roofing & Waterproofing for being recognized as the ASA Houston Subcontractor Member of the Year 🎉!

This recognition goes far beyond the work they do on the jobsite. Chamberlin has invested countless hours in mentoring future industry professionals, hosting hands-on training opportunities, and partnering with trade schools, high schools, and colleges to help grow the next generation of skilled craftspeople 🤝.

Their team has also been actively involved with ASA Houston through volunteering, mentoring, and supporting initiatives that help strengthen our industry and raise the bar for everyone.

This Father’s Day, we’re taking a moment to celebrate some of the dads who helped shape the folks you see here at Adams Insurance Service. 👨‍👧‍👦

Here are a few of our team members celebrating the men who mean so much to them, as well as some who are proud fathers and grandfathers themselves. These are the men who taught us the value of hard work, keeping your word, showing up when it counts, and treating people right. Those are lessons that tend to stay with you.

Meet Jessica Johnston, our Commercial Account Executive and one of the newest members of the Adams Insurance Service team 👋.

Jessica brings 20 years of insurance experience to the table, including 15 years in Commercial Underwriting and several years as a Senior Commercial Underwriter and General Liability specialist. When it comes to helping clients navigate risk and coverage, she's got plenty of know‑how under her belt 📊.

Originally from the Dallas area, Jessica has called Houston home since 2015. She may cheer for the Astros these days, but her Texas Rangers loyalty is still holding strong.

When she's not helping clients, Jessica stays busy wrangling four kids, three cats, two birds, more houseplants than she can count, and just about any outdoor adventure she can find 🌿. Whether she's gardening, hiking, painting, or singing along to Taylor Swift, she always keeps life interesting.

The same dedication, care, and loyalty she gives to her family and hobbies are the qualities she brings to her clients every day, and we're sure glad to have her as part of the Adams Insurance Service crew.

According to the National Weather Service, Invest 90L has been upgraded to the first Potential Tropical Cyclone (PTC) of the season and will be heading back our way in the next day or two. 🌧️ While it’s not expected to strengthen beyond a tropical storm, it’s forecast to bring heavy rainfall and a real risk of flooding. Now’s a great time to check your insurance policy. Do you know exactly what’s covered — and what isn’t? If not, take a few minutes to review it today.

If flooding does impact your property (once it’s safe) take these steps:

• Document everything — take clear photos and videos of all damage before you clean up or throw anything away. 📸
• File your First Notice of Loss as soon as possible online through the NFIP Policyholder Portal (https://nfipdirect.fema.gov/) or call 800-638-6620.
• A claims adjuster will be assigned to guide you through the next steps.
• Save all receipts for any expenses related to protecting your property from further damage.

Everybody wants the inside scoop on claims. 👀

Maybe it's because we've all seen movies where the insurance company is the bad guy, or maybe it's because nobody likes dealing with a claim in the first place.

The truth? Most claims adjusters are trained to be friendly, frank, firm, and fair. Their job is to investigate the facts, apply the policy, and help move the claim to a resolution as quickly and fairly as possible. ✅

If you ever find yourself filing a claim, one of the best things you can do is stay organized. Keep photos, receipts, estimates, and notes from conversations. Good documentation can be worth its weight in gold when questions come up. 💼

And if something doesn't seem right, don't be afraid to ask questions. A good adjuster should be able to explain the decision, the policy language behind it, and what additional information may help.

At the end of the day, the best claims experiences often start long before a loss happens by choosing a quality insurance carrier with a strong reputation for claims service.

The forecast says this year's hurricane season may be quieter than usual. That's good news but around here, we know better than to let our guard down. 🌪️

After all, some pretty memorable storms have shown up during El Niño years, and it only takes one hurricane to make for a very long week.

If you've been kicking the can down the road on that backup generator, consider this your friendly nudge. Are they expensive? Yep. Is having lights, A/C, a working refrigerator, and a hot cup of coffee during an extended outage worth something? Also yep. ☕

One thing our latest hurricane preparedness blog explores is whether a whole-home generator is worth the investment. We even asked a few AI tools for their take, and all three pointed to the same recommendation: the 22kW Generac Guardian. But as with anything, the real key is being prepared before a storm is headed your way. ⚡

This month, Adams Insurance Service joins the National Safety Council in spotlighting how we can all work together to prevent injuries and save lives - both on and off the job. 🦺 Did you know, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there were over 5,280 work-related fatalities and over 2.5 million nonfatal injuries in the private sector in 2023. That’s a powerful reminder why safety matters every single day.

Texas heat is no joke, and neither is keeping your crew safe in it 🌡️.

OSHA’s new National Emphasis Program on Heat Hazards officially went into effect on April 10, 2026, putting a stronger focus on protecting workers from heat‑related illnesses on the jobsite and in indoor work environments.

Around here, we believe staying ahead of heat stress starts with planning before the temperatures start climbing. That means understanding the specific heat risks on your jobsite, making sure crews have water, rest, and shade 💧, and knowing the warning signs before trouble comes knocking.

One helpful resource we share with clients is the OSHA NIOSH Heat Safety Tool app, which helps crews monitor heat index levels right from their phones and provides reminders on protective measures based on current risk levels.

Faith Boren recently held a training meeting demonstrating the Triplett HS10 Indoor/Outdoor Heat Stress WBGT Meter, helping crews better understand how to measure and monitor real heat stress conditions out in the field 🛠️.

Adams Insurance Service also provides training for clients on OSHA’s updated heat emphasis program, including heat hazard awareness, work practices, PPE guidance, and protecting new workers who may not be acclimated to the heat yet.

When the summer sun starts bearing down, it pays to be prepared and keep your crew one step ahead of the heat.
