When a major property loss hits, there’s no time to be figuring out the game plan on the fly ⚠️.

A fire, storm, water loss, or other unexpected event can bring business to a halt in a hurry. And when it does, those first few hours matter. Having a plan before trouble comes calling can make getting back on your feet a whole lot easier 📄.

A few things to keep in mind:
✔️ Know your coverage before you need it. Review your policy, limits, and exclusions so you understand what’s covered and where potential gaps may exist.
✔️ Document everything. Keep current photos, equipment inventories, financial records, and other important documents backed up and stored somewhere safe.
✔️ Act quickly after a loss. Notify your insurance carrier and agent, take steps to prevent additional damage, and photograph the property before cleanup or repairs begin.
✔️ Keep track of every dollar. Document expenses related to cleanup, temporary repairs, reconstruction, replacement property, and getting operations back up and running.

And one of the biggest tips? Don’t wait for a loss to start planning for one. A little preparation on the front end can save plenty of headaches when the unexpected comes knocking 🛠️.

The Adams crew has been making the rounds lately, and we’ve covered quite a bit of ground! 🤝

Matty Medellin and Laura Jackman joined BLDG’s Brianna Built It Community Service Day, where Adams Insurance Service donated items benefiting Star of Hope and pitched in wherever an extra set of hands was needed. We also stopped by BLDG’s Lunch & Learn, “Lessons Learned Across Generations,” for some good conversation and a chance to learn from folks across the industry.

From there, our team kept busy catching up with friends at American Subcontractors Association - Houston Chapter (ASA-HC) ’s Schmooze & Mingle with GC Partner HENSEL PHELPS and celebrating Pat Kiley’s 90th birthday at the Junior League of Houston. 🎉

We also made our way to the Houston Build Expo for a couple of days of catching up with familiar faces and meeting plenty of new ones along the way.

And, of course, we couldn’t miss ASA Houston’s August General Luncheon! Our team enjoyed a great conversation with leaders from contracting, specialty trades, and higher education about recruiting and retaining skilled workers, career and training opportunities, and what it takes to build the next generation of construction professionals. It was a great reminder of the importance of investing in the people who will shape the future of our industry.

Community service, celebrations, a little fishing, and plenty of time spent with good folks. We’d say that’s a pretty good stretch out on the trail! 🏗️

Keep an eye out for the Adams Insurance Service crew while we’re out and about. If you see us, don’t be a stranger!

Technology is changing the construction game, but buying the latest tool is only half the battle 🏗️.

From BIM and drones to wearable safety tech, robotics, and AI powered project management, contractors have more technology at their fingertips than ever. But bringing a new tool on board without a solid plan can send that investment south in a hurry.

For this Risk RoundUp, we’re looking at what can go wrong when technology doesn’t quite click, from wasted costs and project delays to legal headaches, scattered data, and new cybersecurity risks ⚠️.

So how do you keep a new tech investment from going sideways? Start small with a pilot program, choose your vendors carefully, train your people, and make cybersecurity part of the plan from day one.

The bottom line is pretty simple: Don’t just buy the technology and hope for the best. Have a game plan for putting it to work 💡.

A strong safety culture starts with giving your crew the right tools and training to do the job safely. 🦺

We recently hosted a 30 Hour OSHA class at the Adams Insurance Service office for a group of supervisors and project managers from our longtime clients at Pate Garver, LP. With more than 50 years in the underground construction industry, their team knows firsthand just how important safety is on the job.

At Adams, taking care of our clients goes well beyond insurance coverage. We're proud to offer safety training and risk management resources that help our clients invest in their people, strengthen their safety programs, and keep their crews ready for whatever the job throws their way. 💪

A big thank you to the Pate Garver team for spending time with us and continuing to make safety a priority. Here's to good training, strong crews, and getting everyone home safely at the end of the day. ⭐

A job well done is worth celebrating, especially when our clients have some well-earned hardware to show for it! 🏆

A big congratulations to Hoggatt and Camarata Masonry Systems, Ltd. on their recognition at the 2026 Associated Masonry Contractors of Houston Golden Trowel Awards.

Hoggatt earned honors for their work on the Sienna Crescent Spring Roundabout and Sienna Waters Lake Heritage Park Roundabout, while Camarata was recognized for the Lamar State College Allied Health & Science Building, Ball High School North Building, and Waller County Courthouse, which also took home Best In Show.

That's a whole lot of outstanding craftsmanship worth celebrating! We're proud to work with companies that continue to raise the bar and leave their mark on projects across Texas. 👏

Congratulations to the Hoggatt and Camarata teams on these well-deserved wins. Adams Insurance Service will always be cheering you on from down the trail! 🤠

Some folks just have a knack for making everyone feel right at home, and that's exactly what you'll find with Gina VandenBerghe, our Administrative Assistant at Adams Insurance Service. 🤗

Born and raised in Uvalde, Texas, Gina brings her small-town roots and friendly smile to the office every day. When she's not helping keep things running smoothly, you'll likely find her floating the river, enjoying a good cup of coffee, cooking and baking for family and friends, or cheering on her beloved Houston Astros. ☕

Gina is also a proud wife to her high school sweetheart, René, a devoted mom and grandmother, and an active member of her church's Women's Leadership Team. Whether she's exploring the Texas Hill Country, catching a concert, or spending time with the people she loves most, she's happiest making memories with family and friends. 🌟

We're mighty glad to have Gina as part of the Adams team, helping make our office a welcoming place for our clients and coworkers alike.

When it comes to Texas weather, it's not a matter of if you'll see heavy rain. It's when. The question is, will your property be ready? 🌧️

One of the biggest misconceptions about flood insurance is that you only need it if you're in a high-risk flood zone. The reality is that more than 20% of flood claims come from properties outside of high-risk areas, making it important to understand your property's flood risk before the next storm rolls in. ⚠️

Here are a few ways to help protect what matters most:
✔️ Check your property's flood risk using FEMA's Flood Map Service Center or tools on Flood Zones and Maps | National Flood Insurance Program, even if you've never experienced flooding before.
✔️ Make sure you have both building and contents flood coverage. They're separate coverages, and together they help protect both your property and what's inside it.
✔️ Review your coverage regularly to be sure it keeps up with today's rebuilding costs, not just your home's market value.
✔️ Don't wait until a storm is on the radar. Most NFIP flood insurance policies have a 30-day waiting period before coverage takes effect.
✔️ Keep a home inventory with photos, videos, and receipts. If flooding ever happens, you'll be glad you did.

When the rain starts coming down, it's too late to wonder if you've got the right coverage. A little preparation today can help you weather tomorrow's storm with a whole lot more peace of mind. ✨

Building a safer jobsite starts long before the first boots hit the ground. 🦺

Our own Faith Boren recently led an OSHA 30 training in Spanish for clients in Dallas, giving construction professionals the tools and knowledge to help create safer jobsites and stronger safety cultures.

It was also great to see more women in the classroom, a reminder that the construction industry continues to grow stronger with talented professionals from all backgrounds stepping up and making their mark. ✨

At Adams Insurance Service, we're proud to offer OSHA and other safety training opportunities that help our clients protect their crews, strengthen their businesses, and keep safety at the forefront of every jobsite.
