Traveling this summer? Ready to hit the road? Here are some important safety tips to help keep you and your family safe.

Wait to post vacation photos. Don’t share pictures or posts from your trip until you’re back home. Posting while you’re away can signal that your home may be empty and increase the risk of burglary or robbery.

Alert your bank before you travel. If you’re traveling out of state (or out of the country), let your bank know so they don’t flag your card for suspicious activity or block transactions.

Prepare your vehicle before you leave. Keep up with oil changes, top off fluids, and check tire pressure to help prevent breakdowns or major issues on the road.

Secure your home before you go. Keep all doors locked, lights off (or on a schedule if you use one), and windows closed.

Have someone check in at home. Ask a trusted friend or neighbor to keep an eye on things and stop by occasionally in case anything comes up.

Pack essentials in your car. Bring jumper cables, basic tools, and any other items that could help during an emergency or vehicle breakdown.
