Make Friday night a music night! Quinn Sullivan takes the stage at Harmony in the Woods at 6 PM, and you can also find live music around Lake Wallenpaupack, including Fireside Live at The Dock Pub at Silver Birches from 6–9 PM.

🛍️ Hunt for Treasures at the Hawley Borough-Wide Yard Sale
Saturday is bargain-hunting day! The 3rd Annual Hawley Borough-Wide Yard Sale takes place throughout town, making it the perfect excuse to spend the morning exploring Hawley and seeing what treasures you can find.

🥕 Visit the Wayne County Farmers Market
Heading toward Honesdale? Stop by the Wayne County Farmers Market Saturday from 9:30 AM–12:30 PM at Dave’s Super Duper. This producer-only market features locally grown and locally made products from Wayne County.

🎶 Spend Saturday Night Under the Trees
Harmony in the Woods welcomes Michael Glabicki of Rusted Root with Dirk Miller Saturday at 6 PM. If you haven’t experienced a concert at this outdoor Hawley venue yet, this is a great weekend to check it out!

🎉 Paupack Watering Hole’s 5th Anniversary Celebration and Fundraiser for the Lake Region Community Dock Foundation starts at 1 PM! Make sure you stop buy and support them.

🧶 Celebrate Hawley’s Fiber Heritage
Head to the Hawley Silk Mill on Sunday for the Fiber Festival! Spend the day celebrating fiber arts, creativity and the history of the iconic Silk Mill while browsing and exploring this National Historic Landmark.

🌊 Enjoy One More Lakeside Sunday
Summer isn’t over quite yet! Lakeside Live continues Sunday afternoon at Silver Birches Resort beginning at 2 PM. Grab a bite, enjoy the lake views and soak up the unofficial final weekend of summer.

🚂 All Aboard for Railfest in Scranton!
Railroad fans and families can head to Steamtown National Historic Site for Railfest 2026, happening Friday through Sunday from 9 AM–5 PM. Explore railroad history, exhibits and special activities throughout the weekend.

🇮🇹 Celebrate 50 Years of La Festa Italiana!
Downtown Scranton is celebrating the 50th anniversary of La Festa Italiana all Labor Day weekend! Enjoy Italian food, vendors, entertainment on three stages, kiddie rides and plenty of festival fun Friday through Monday.

Downtown Milford’s First Friday returns Friday from 5–8 PM with a special Back-to-School theme. Stroll downtown, visit local businesses and enjoy an evening in one of the region’s prettiest small towns.

Want something a little quieter? Take advantage of the long weekend with a hike at Promised Land State Park, explore the waterfalls at George W. Childs Park near Dingmans Ferry, or head to Milford to visit Raymondskill Falls.

This is it, Lake Wallenpaupack! One of the BIGGEST weekends of the summer is here, and if you’re looking for something to do, you’re going to have a hard time choosing. 😎

Wally Lake Fest takes over the Lake Region August 28–30 with three days of live music, boating, markets, food trucks, outdoor adventures and plenty of lake life!

Here are some of my picks for the weekend:

What better weekend to enjoy Lake Wallenpaupack? Rent a pontoon, kayak or paddleboard from Wallenpaupack Boat Rentals, or sit back and enjoy the scenery aboard a Wallenpaupack Scenic Boat Tour.

⛵ On Saturday, the Paupack Sailing Club is even offering one-hour sailboat rides from Ironwood Point Campground from 11 AM–3 PM!

🎶 Catch a Show at Harmony in the Woods
Spend an evening surrounded by the trees at Harmony in the Woods in Hawley. Liz Callaway: Broadway & Beyond takes the stage Friday night, followed by The Seven Wonders: A Tribute to Fleetwood Mac on Saturday. Saturday’s show is currently sold out, but a waitlist is available.

🎉 Celebrate Pioneer Nights in Carbondale
Take a ride to downtown Carbondale for Pioneer Nights, continuing through Saturday! The end-of-summer celebration brings food, vendors, live entertainment and family-friendly activities to downtown. Friday night also features a fireworks show!

🚂 Ride the Rails from Scranton to Pioneer Nights
Here’s a fun way to get to Carbondale on Saturday! Steamtown National Historic Site is offering a Heritage Express excursion from Scranton to Pioneer Nights. The train departs Saturday afternoon, giving passengers time to enjoy the festival, entertainment, vendors and parade before heading back to Scranton.

⚾ Catch a RailRiders Game
Baseball fans can head to PNC Field in Moosic, where the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders take on the Charlotte Knights this weekend. Sunday is also Family FunDay, making it a great outing with the kids.

🎶 Enjoy Live Music by Lake Wallenpaupack
There’s nothing quite like a summer afternoon by the lake! Lakeside Live continues at Silver Birches this weekend with live music, food, drinks and beautiful views of Lake Wallenpaupack.

🚤 Spend Some Time on Lake Wallenpaupack
Take a scenic boat tour, get out on the water, walk the Observation D**e or simply find a spot to relax and enjoy the view. Sometimes you don’t need an event to have a great summer day!

🚲 Try Something Different in Hawley
Take a ride on the Pennsylvania Rail Bike from the Hawley Train Station and experience the area from a completely different perspective along the tracks.

⛳ Make It a Family Fun Day
Mini golf, go-karts, bumper boats and more make Costa’s Family Fun Park an easy choice for a summer afternoon with the family.

🏘️ Explore Honesdale
Take a ride up Route 6 and spend some time walking downtown Honesdale. Browse the shops, grab lunch or dinner, check out the local history and make an afternoon of exploring another one of our great small towns.

🏡 One of my favorite things about living and working in this area is how much there is to do right in our own backyard. Whether you’re catching a concert, exploring a neighboring town, watching a baseball game or spending the day on the lake, get out and enjoy these last few weekends of summer!

🏡 Most parents know they’ll need to figure out where their college student is going to live.

What many don’t realize is that renting an apartment or paying for campus housing may not be the only option.

For some families, a Kiddie Condo strategy can make it possible to purchase a property for a college student to live in without the property necessarily being treated the same way as a traditional investment property.

That distinction can be important when it comes to financing.

There are specific requirements, and this strategy won’t make sense for every family or every college situation. But if you’re already looking at several years of housing expenses, it may be an option worth understanding before making a decision.

🎡 Catch the Final Days of the Wayne County Fair
The 164th Annual Wayne County Fair wraps up Saturday, August 15 in Honesdale! If you haven’t made it yet, this is your last chance for rides, fair food, agricultural exhibits, entertainment and all the traditions that make the fair a summer favorite.

🚚 Take a Trip to Milford for the Food Truck Festival
Head to Milford on Saturday from 12–5 PM for the Milford Presents Food Truck Festival. Admission is FREE, so come hungry and spend some time exploring downtown Milford while you’re there!

🎸 Spend the Afternoon Lakeside
Lakeside Live continues at Silver Birches Resort on Saturday & Sunday from 2–5 PM. Grab something to eat, enjoy live music and take in one of the best views of Lake Wallenpaupack. You can even listen from your boat!

🚲 Try Something Different
Take a ride on the Pennsylvania Rail Bike from the Hawley Train Station, or get out on the water with a Wallenpaupack Scenic Boat Tour. Both are great ways to enjoy a summer weekend in the Lake Region.

🎯 Make it a Family Day

Moka Origins in Honesdale invites visitors to experience their free Chocolate and Coffee Factory Tours held every Saturday at 10 AM and 2 PM.

🎓 College housing can add up quickly.

When your student is heading to college, it’s easy to think of rent as just another unavoidable expense. But for some families, it may be worth asking a different question:

🏠 What if we bought instead?

A Kiddie Condo strategy may allow parents to purchase a home for their college student to live in while attending school. Depending on the situation, that could mean exploring an alternative to paying rent for the next several years while potentially building equity in a property you own.

Of course, buying isn’t automatically better than renting. Location, length of time in school, purchase price, financing, maintenance costs and your family’s overall financial goals all matter.
