I have a major career change announcement. As of June 30, 2023, I have sold my Goosehead agency to Ray Lopez, a dedicated agent who works hard on behalf of each of his clients. I am very pleased to have someone like Ray working with my clients and referral partners going forward as I know they are in excellent hands. I did not enter this year with plans to sell my agency, but my wife and I came to this decision (through much prayer) to simplify our lives and ensure that our family is a priority. There are no vacations when launching a new business. While I’ve loved building relationships with so many clients and referral partners over the past 2.5 years, the work is demanding to ensure each referral partner and client receives a great experience. If that’s all our family had to juggle, I’m confident we could keep going. The reality is that my wife also works a busy job as a CEO while attending graduate school. Our kids are getting older and more involved in sports and other events outside of school. Our lives had become so busy that we struggled to find time to connect with family or friends.
It had been a goal of mine for several years to start a business and build it into a profitable investment. I am extremely blessed and thankful to have been able to do that as an Agency Owner with Goosehead Insurance. I am thankful to each client who trusted me with their insurance needs. I am so appreciative of each referral partner who trusted their reputation with me in their pursuit to provide the best for their clients. All I can say is “thank you” from the bottom of my heart. Please know that I thought about your continued interests throughout this process to sell, which is why I was so delighted to have someone of Ray Lopez’s caliber express interest in buying my agency. I know that Ray will continue to serve each client and referral partner to the very best of his ability.
As to what’s next for me? Well, I’m going to spend the next month taking a real vacation with my kids while they are on summer break. I look forward to some quality time outdoors with my boys this summer! I don’t have definitive plans beyond that at this point, but I have always enjoyed teaching. One of my favorite jobs to this day was my time spent as a corporate new hire trainer, and I absolutely loved the conversations with professors and students during my time in class as I pursued an MBA at Endicott College. I also loved building a business, so I am going to look into opportunities to teach business classes at either the college or graduate level starting in the Fall. If you know any schools looking to hire a business professor in any capacity, I would appreciate any introductions you may have for me!
