When reviewing homeowners quotes and policies with clients, we have a lot of them ask us what “loss of use coverage” is (coverage D). This is a question many of you may have at some point as well.

Loss of use coverage is listed on your policy to cover additional living expenses in the event that something happens to your home. If an event happens that renders your home too damaged to live in, this coverage can really come in handy.
This includes renting a home, staying in a hotel, meals, laundry, or storing belongings.

A second situation could be if you are prevented from living in your home while it undergoes repairs to fix damage that occurred. You may find yourself using the loss of use coverage listed on your policy.

I am coming up on one year as an insurance agent with Howard Insurance⁠, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the experience. Over the past year, I’ve had the privilege of helping individuals and families protect what matters most to them. What started as a new career opportunity has turned into an incredibly rewarding journey filled with growth, learning, and meaningful connections. I’ve enjoyed getting to know our clients, celebrating life’s milestones with them, and being there to help when unexpected situations arise. Every conversation and every policy has taught me something new.

I’m especially thankful for my amazing coworker, Meghann who has supported me throughout this first year and helped me grow both professionally and personally. As well as my bosses, Dawn and Dennis Mullins who made it all possible by granting me this opportunity. Being blessed with a work family has been my favorite part of this experience.

We have been seeing delayed delivery times with USPS. This has resulted in a lot of inconvenience for some of our clients. With this being said, mailing in check payments comes with the risk of your payment not being delivered to your insurance carrier on time. This results in late penalties. Luckily, there are other quick and simple options such as calling our office to make a quick payment over the phone. Indiana is home to over 1,000 lakes and reservoirs, while Ohio has more than 560 lakes. Despite all of these lakes creating many on-water hobbies for thousands of people, nationally only an estimated 50% of people that own boats have boat insurance. These numbers are concerning considering just how costly and damaging boat accidents can be.

Imagine this: you use your hard-earned money to buy a boat and enjoy fishing over the spring/summer. On one of your outings, another uninsured boater makes a mistake or has a slip in judgment and crashes into your boat, causing a large amount of damage. Without the uninsured motorist coverage that could be included on a boat policy, you are either now out of the boat you paid for or you are going to have to pay money out of your pocket to repair the boat.
