Every public win has private responsibility attached to it.

People see the ribbon cuttings.
The milestones.
The growth.

What they don’t always see is the accountability behind it.

The preparation.
The pressure.
The standard you hold yourself to when others are counting on you.

Real leadership isn’t built in spotlight moments.

It’s built in the quiet decisions made long before anyone notices the result.

That’s the responsibility of representing something bigger than yourself.

And that’s the standard.

Be Curious.
Be Confident.
Be Competitive.
Be Kind.

Much Love & Cheers.

Huge shout out to Amanda Laney, pictured here with the scissors, opening up her office last July in Greencastle, IN. She and our team are the epitome of what this post is all about.

Behind the scenes of being a financial professional…

Most people see the meetings.
The events.
The presentations.
The polished side of the profession.

What they don’t see are the hours behind it all.

The studying.
The strategy sessions.
The tough conversations.
The constant refining of our craft.

They don’t see the time spent preparing for one client conversation…
or the pressure of making sure families receive guidance that’s thoughtful, ethical, and personal.

And honestly?

One of the best parts of this profession is that we don’t do it alone.

Behind every advisor is a team pushing each other to grow, think deeper, sharpen our skills, and raise the standard together.

A lot happens behind the scenes.

The learning.
The collaboration.
The accountability.
The camaraderie.

That’s what makes the visible moments possible.

And that’s what makes this work so meaningful.

Be Curious.
Be Confident.
Be Competitive.
Be Kind.

Much Love & Cheers.

Last month’s Glitter & Gratitude Gala was a powerful reminder of what can happen when people choose to build community intentionally.

More than 80 nonprofit organizations came together for one night—not to fundraise, not to network, not to compete for attention…

…but simply to be celebrated.

And what made the night even more meaningful was seeing so many Modern Woodmen of America members, community leaders, and local champions show up to support the people who spend their lives supporting everyone else.

That’s what made this event special.

Not just the decor.
Not just the music.
Not just the glitter.

The people.

The Community Champions who helped bring the vision to life.
The nonprofit leaders who continue to pour themselves into this county.
The members who understand that success means more when it lifts others along the way.

That’s the difference.

This wasn’t just an event.
It was a reflection of the kind of community we’re continuing to build together.

And honestly… we’re just getting started.

Be Curious.
Be Confident.
Be Competitive.
Be Kind.

Much Love & Cheers.

Most people want the results.

Very few commit to the standard required to achieve them.

Because mastery is rarely glamorous.

It’s repetition.
Preparation.
Discipline.

Handling the small details correctly—
even when nobody notices.

Again.
And again.
And again.

That’s the price.

Not talent.
Not hype.
Not shortcuts.

Just the willingness to stay committed to the craft long after the excitement fades.

Respect isn’t given once.
It’s earned daily.

Be Curious.
Be Confident.
Be Competitive.
Be Kind.

Much Love & Cheers.

Most client appreciation nights look the same.

Dinner. Drinks. Maybe a thank you or two.

Ours looks a little different.

We still celebrate.
We still say thank you.
But we also pause to recognize something bigger—

The impact our clients make simply by choosing to do business with us.

Because this isn’t just about financial planning.
It’s about what that planning makes possible.

Last month, we had the opportunity to support and recognize some incredible organizations and leaders in our community:

Tandy Shuck and Leadership Johnson County - Matching Fundraiser recipient
Tiffany Woods and the The Greenwood Education Foundation - Matching Fundraiser recipient
Renae Furnée and Resources of Hope Inc. - Matching Fundraiser recipient
Laura Perry and the TOPSoccer Program at South Central Soccer Academy - Service Project recipient
Kerry Carmichael and Jean Hooten of The Refuge Inc. - Honored Hometown Hero recipients
Markanda Baugh of the Damien Center - Service Project recipient
Steve Campbell & Kelly Frakes Campbell of St. Francis Soccer Club - Service Project recipient
Mika Boller Stark & Kiersey Nicole Denief of Stark Market Club- Financial Literacy/Stock Market for children/teens - Service Project recipient

And here’s the part that matters most—
This doesn’t happen without our clients... without our members.

Every policy.
Every plan.
Every choice is one made to work together…

It all compounds into something far greater than numbers on a page.

It turns into opportunities.
Into resources.
Into real impact for people right here in our community.

That’s how we operate differently.

Not just building financial security—
but using it to strengthen the communities we’re part of.

That’s what it means to be…

Be Curious.
Be Confident.
Be Competitive.
Be Kind.

Much Love & Cheers.

“Why does this profession matter?”

Because most people are trying to figure out one of the most important areas of their life… alone.

2 out of 3 Americans don’t work with a financial professional.

2 out of 3 don’t even have a written plan.

102 million are underinsured.

There’s a $4 trillion retirement gap.

And a 100,000 advisor shortage on the horizon.

That’s not a statistic problem.

That’s a people problem.

It’s families making decisions without clarity.
It’s futures being built on guesswork.
It’s stress that doesn’t need to exist.

And in a world where most financial institutions are focused on products, performance, and profit margins…

There’s a different lane.

One built on relationships.
On education.
On showing up in the communities we actually live in.

Where success isn’t just measured by numbers on a statement—
but by the impact those numbers have on real lives.

That’s OUR difference.

And that’s why this profession still matters… and why we’ve chosen to build it differently.

Be Curious.
Be Confident.
Be Competitive.
Be Kind.

Much Love & Cheers.

Some things stick with you.

The Dolly Parton's Imagination Library of Johnson County was the very first organization I supported when I began my journey in the financial profession with Modern Woodmen of America.

At the time, it was one partnership… one decision… one opportunity to give back.

Today, that same program is serving children across all 92 counties in Indiana!

That’s what happens when people commit to something bigger than themselves.

I had the opportunity to attend their donor appreciation night this week, and it was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when a community rallies around a shared mission.

A tremendous amount of credit belongs to Susan Crisafulli (an aboslute rockstar!!!) who brought the program to Johnson County and her board who have helped spark the growth we’re now seeing across the state.

And to Kelly Wright, whose leadership and determination have helped secure the funding needed to keep this program running—especially in moments when it mattered most.

And to all of the partners who have helped along the way… like Kim Kasting and the Johnson County Community Foundation, who continue to show what it means to invest in the future of our communities.

This is what impact looks like.

Not always loud.
Not always visible.
But real—and lasting.

Proud to have played a small part in the beginning.
Even prouder to see what it’s become.

That’s what it means to be…

Be Curious.
Be Confident.
Be Competitive.
Be Kind.

Much Love & Cheers.

Most people underestimate what they’re capable of.

Not because they lack ability—
but because they’ve never been in a position that demands more from them.

This career has a way of revealing that.

It challenges how you think.
How you communicate.
How you show up for others.

And over time…
it changes you.

Not overnight.
Not easily.

But meaningfully.

Because when you’re trusted to help people make some of the most important decisions of their lives—

you don’t have a choice but to grow.

And if you lean into it…

what you’re capable of becomes very different than what you once thought possible.

Be Curious.
Be Confident.
Be Competitive.
Be Kind.

Huge shout out to one of our very best, Brandon New!!

Much Love & Cheers.
