Labor Day is all about celebrating the workforce, and the best way to honor hard work is to take a real break from it. So to celebrate, our team is fully committing to the cause by penciling some cat naps into our schedules this weekend.

A quick heads-up: The office is closed on Monday, September 7th. We will be back on Tuesday, September 8th — recharged, refreshed, and ready to get to work.

We hope you have a long weekend full of good food, good company, and zero emails!

Between the busy nature of this time of year, it's easy for health benefits to slip your mind entirely, even the ones with real money attached to them. As a reminder: Some benefits completely disappear if they're not used by year-end, while others carry over without you having to do anything at all.

Swipe through for a quick recap of what expires, what doesn't, and what to keep in mind as the year comes to a close.

Not sure what your specific plan allows? Reach out anytime. We're happy to help you sort out what's actually expiring versus what isn't.

Life has a way of moving quickly, and certain changes, whether expected or not, can affect your health insurance coverage in ways that aren't always obvious at the moment.

Some life events trigger a Special Enrollment Period, a 60-day window before or after the event during which you can enroll in or update your coverage outside the standard Open Enrollment Period. If any of the following have happened in your household over the past year, it may be worth a conversation:

🔵Getting married, divorced, or welcoming a new child into your family
🔵Moving to a new ZIP code, county, or state
🔵Turning 26 and coming off a parent's plan, or losing job-based coverage
🔵Changes in your income or household size
🔵Turning 65 and becoming eligible for Medicare, or becoming a U.S. citizen

If anything on that list sounds familiar, we'd love to connect to see how we can help you during a Special Enrollment Period. Give our team a call, and we can get started.

As you’ve likely seen, group health plan costs continue to rise. Higher premiums are being driven by medical trend increases, pharmacy costs, and changes in utilization. Because of this, many employers are facing increased budget pressure while trying to support their employees and manage expectations during renewal periods.

The good news is that controlling costs doesn’t have to mean reducing benefits or shifting more expenses to employees. The real objective is to improve your cost-to-coverage ratio and ensure that every dollar spent delivers meaningful value.

Swipe for a few key methods to help you evaluate and manage rising health plan costs.

If rising health care costs are creating uncertainty for your organization, feel free to schedule a consultation. I’m happy to review your current strategy and identify practical ways to improve efficiency without unnecessary disruption.

August is National Eye Exam Month, a perfect reminder to schedule your annual eye exam if you haven’t already.

A comprehensive annual eye exam is covered by most vision plans, meaning you can obtain this key preventive care as easily as scheduling your appointment.

Additionally, these exams can do more for your health than just update your prescription. Your eyes can reveal early warning signs of serious health conditions that you might not know about otherwise, including:

👁️ Hypertension - Irregularities in the eye's blood vessels can signal high blood pressure before other symptoms appear.
👁️ High cholesterol - A yellowish tint or patch around the cornea or eyelid may indicate elevated cholesterol levels.
👁️ Autoimmune disorders - Inflammation in the eye can be an early sign of conditions like lupus.
👁️ Thyroid disease - Bulging or protruding eyes are often associated with thyroid-related conditions.
👁️ Cancer - Unusual structures within the eye can indicate ocular melanoma, and changes around the eyelids may reveal certain skin cancers.

If it has been more than a year since your last eye exam, let this month be your reminder to get it on the calendar.

Not sure what your vision benefits cover? Give our team a call. We are happy to help you take a look.
