“Wait, what does that mean?” is a good question. ☕

If someone explains your mortgage using three acronyms and a spreadsheet, you’re allowed to stop them.

Try this:
“Can you show me where that cost appears and explain why it’s there?”

Or:
“What would that mean for my budget?”

You don’t need to learn an entire industry’s vocabulary to ask for a clear explanation. And nodding politely isn’t a requirement.

I used to teach elementary school. You cannot shock me with a question.

The big print gets your attention. Read the small print. ☕

That builder flyer looks tempting. Before you plan where the couch goes, find out what the advertised offer actually requires.

Ask:
• Is the rate temporary or for the full loan term?
• Does the offer require a particular lender?
• What eligibility conditions and deadlines apply?
• What costs would I pay to get that offer?

An incentive can be worth considering. It still needs to make sense for your budget and your plans.

Don’t buy a dining room for one dinner. ☕

Holiday hosting can make a bigger house look very tempting.

But when you tour a home, picture an ordinary Tuesday, too.

Where would you take a work call?
Where would the groceries land?
Would you actually use that extra room, or mostly furnish and clean it?

Try separating your house list into everyday needs and occasional nice-to-haves. Then decide which extras are worth making room for in your housing budget.

If hosting is your favorite thing, the bigger dining room might deserve its spot. Just make it a choice you’ve thought through.
