1. Does my current plan still meet my needs?
2. Are my doctors and hospitals still in-network?
3. Are my prescriptions still covered, and at what cost?
4. What will my total healthcare expenses be, beyond premiums?
5. Are there extra benefits I’ll actually use?
6. Should I consider a different coverage option?
7. Have I allowed enough time to compare plans?

🎃 Halloween Safety Checklist 🎃

Keep the night safe and fun with a few quick reminders:

✅ Bright or reflective costumes so drivers can see them.
✅ Avoid trips and falls: Hem long robes and capes, use face paint instead of masks.
✅ Leave the pumpkin design to kids and carving to adults (or supervise closely if an older kid tries a carving saw)
✅ Trick-or-treat with groups or adult supervision, and bring flashlights
✅ Check the candy before anyone digs in
✅ Clear the porch and walkway of trip hazards
✅ Drivers, slow down and watch for kids near the road

📢 Open Enrollment Update for 2027 Marketplace Coverage

The dates for ACA Marketplace open enrollment have changed in some states. Here's the latest.

Most states, including the federal HealthCare.gov states, will run open enrollment from November 1, 2026 through January 15, 2027.

A few states start earlier:
- Idaho: October 15
- Connecticut: October 23
- Massachusetts: October 23

And a few states end on a date other than January 15:
- California: January 31
- Connecticut: December 23
- District of Columbia: January 31
- Idaho: December 15
- Massachusetts: December 23
- Minnesota: December 31
- New Jersey: January 31
- New York: January 31
- Rhode Island: December 31
- Virginia: January 29

If your state isn't listed above, you're likely on the standard November 1 to January 15 schedule.

If you're young and relatively healthy, you may think life insurance is something you'll worry about later. Here's what you're probably wrong about:

🎃 Creamy Pumpkin Soup — A Cozy Fall Favorite! 🍂

Cool fall evenings call for something warm and comforting, and this easy pumpkin soup is just the thing!

Ingredients:
1 (15 oz.) can pumpkin puree
1 small onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 Tbsp. butter or olive oil
3 cups chicken or vegetable broth
½ cup heavy cream
½ tsp. salt
¼ tsp. black pepper
¼ tsp. ground nutmeg

Directions:
Sauté the onion in butter or olive oil over medium heat until soft, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.

Stir in the pumpkin, broth, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Reduce the heat and stir in the cream. Heat through without boiling, then taste and adjust the seasoning.

Ladle into bowls and, if you'd like, top with toasted pumpkin seeds, croutons, or an extra swirl of cream.
