It can mean one less worry, a little more breathing room, and the feeling that someone in your community is looking out for you.

My family and I have been fortunate to support Hands On Hartford over the years, and it’s given us a real appreciation for the people who show up every day to help their neighbors.

This National Food Bank Week, I’m especially grateful for the volunteers, donors, and organizations doing this work with so much care.

Maybe being bold today means saying yes to something new. Maybe it means speaking up, changing direction, asking the question, or finally taking a step you’ve been thinking about for a while.

It doesn’t have to be a huge leap.

Sometimes the smallest move outside your comfort zone is the one that opens the door to something better.

Here’s to trusting yourself a little more, making room for what’s next, and having the courage to see where it leads.

Heroes don’t always wear uniforms or stand in the spotlight.

Sometimes they’re the people who show us, quietly and consistently, what a meaningful life looks like.

My hero is my dad.

He spent 59 years caring for animals and the people who loved them, but what I remember most is how deeply he cared about helping others. Whether he was advocating for the veterinary profession, helping launch one of the earliest pet therapy programs at Newington Children’s Hospital, giving his time to Rotary, supporting conservation efforts, or volunteering with Heifer International, service was simply part of who he was.

He accomplished a great deal in his life, but he never seemed interested in recognition. What mattered to him was being useful, showing up, and leaving people and places a little better than he found them.

More than anything, he showed our family what it meant to live a life led by love.

It's his example that I carry with me, and the legacy I hope to honor.
