Our Austin firm had the opportunity to travel to our home office in Rock Island, Illinois and fire up some Texas BBQ for the incredible behind-the-scenes team that helps keep everything running smoothly. So much of what we do for our members and clients is made possible by people working behind the scenes, and we wanted to take a moment to show our appreciation.

At the heart of Modern Woodmen of America is fraternalism — the belief that we’re here to serve one another, lift each other up, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those around us. This was a small way for us to put that belief into action and give back to the people who do so much for us every day.

This trip was especially meaningful to me because of the opportunity to work alongside my dad over the past year.

It’s hard to put into words the admiration, gratitude, and love I have for being able to work alongside him. Watching him continue to pour his heart into financial planning after 40 years in this profession has been incredible. I’m in awe of his passion for the craft, his commitment to his clients, and the lasting impact he has made on so many families throughout his career.

Behind every financial plan is a person, a family, a dream, or a future someone is working to protect. After four decades, his dedication to those people hasn’t faded. If anything, seeing it firsthand has given me an even greater appreciation for the responsibility and privilege that comes with this work.

I’m proud to be his son, grateful to learn from him, and humbled by the opportunity to follow in his footsteps. I know I have a long way to go and I hope to one day make the same kind of lasting impact on the lives of my clients that he has made on his.

Here’s to serving others, lifting each other up, and building something that matters as a team
