Mutual Savings Bank is Johnson County's only locally headquartered bank. On October 1 of that year, the bank became known as Mutual Savings Bank.

Mutual Building and Loan Association was founded in 1890 by a group of professional business men in Franklin who wanted to invest in the future of the city. In 1994, the bank converted to a state savings bank charter, allowing Mutual to expand its products and services. In recent years, Mutual has continued to steadily grow – adding an additional branch in Franklin as well as a location in Greenwood. Today, Mutual is proud to offer online banking services, along with four local branches to fit your banking style.

Some of the most meaningful businesses in our community are those helping shape the next
generation. As part of Get to Know Your Customer Day, our team enjoyed visiting Brave Beginnings Childcare and learning about the people who make a difference in the lives of local children
and families.

Owned by husband-and-wife team Keli and Jeff Arkney since November 2024, Brave Beginnings
has a history of caring for children that dates back to 2013. What started as a daycare with 38
children has grown to serve more than 65 children through daycare and before-and after-
school care. Keli and Jeff love being part of the Johnson County community, especially the
opportunity to see the children and families they serve while out and about. They're proud of
their Best of Southside recognition and look forward to expanding their community outreach.

When it comes to banking, Keli and Jeff appreciate the local, personal service at Mutual Savings
Bank. They love that the staff knows them, always has answers, and is willing to help. And they
especially enjoy the ITM!

Get to Know Your Customer Day gives us the opportunity to celebrate the hardworking people
behind the businesses that keep our community running. This time, our team had the pleasure
of visiting Patton Plumbing, a family-owned business with deep roots in Johnson County.

Mike and Lynn Patton are both lifelong locals, and Mike always dreamed of owning his own
business. In 2016, that dream became a reality when they started Patton Plumbing. What
began with Mike and two employees has grown into a team of 25, including five immediate
family members. From residential plumbing repairs and commercial new construction to
excavation work, their team takes pride in helping customers and providing dependable service.

For Mike and Lynn, the best part of doing business in Johnson County is the sense of community
and the connections between people. They're especially proud to have passed the 10-year
milestone and look forward to continued growth. They appreciate that same hometown
connection at Mutual Savings Bank, where the personal relationships and ease of doing
business make banking feel like working with friends.
