This week, the majority of our local school districts are heading back to school, and there are a lot of people I’ll be keeping in my prayers.

Prayers for the teachers and staff—that they feel supported, appreciated and encouraged as they pour so much into their students.

Prayers for the students—that they feel safe, welcomed and confident walking into their classrooms, and that they are able to learn, grow and discover what they are capable of this year.

Prayers for the administrators—that they have the wisdom, patience and discernment to make the best decisions for their campuses, their staff and the students entrusted to them.

And prayers for the parents—that they have peace as they send their kids through those doors, grace for themselves as everyone adjusts to new routines, and confidence in the people who will be part of their children’s lives this year.

There is so much that goes into the start of a new school year that has nothing to do with school supplies, schedules or first-day pictures.

Here’s to a safe, successful and meaningful school year for everyone. ❤️📚

Today was one of those days that gave me a lot to think about.

We started with professional development with Dr. Randy Marshall, who talked with us about the difference between goals and desires. His definition was simple, but it really stuck with me: a goal is something you alone can accomplish, which means it is within your control. A desire depends on other people or outside circumstances, so the outcome is not fully yours to control.

That distinction matters. When we treat a desire like a goal, we can end up tying our peace or sense of success to something we never actually controlled in the first place. The better approach is to hold tightly to what we can control—our effort, preparation, actions and choices—while holding the outcome with a more open hand.

From there, we went to Feed My Starving Children and spent time serving together. As a group, we packed 130 boxes, enough to provide 76 children with a daily meal for a full year.

Afterward, I went to lunch with a teammate, and we had a chance to really digest the day, talk through what stood out to us and think about how we want to apply those lessons moving forward.

I keep coming back to the same idea: we may not control every result, but we do control how we show up, what effort we give, and what we choose to do with the opportunities in front of us.

That feels like a pretty good definition of a day well spent.

The working parent’s job is never really over…

Today was one of those days — work, doctor appointment, theatre rehearsal, soccer game, and everything in between.

I love my job. I love my kids. I’m grateful for this busy season of life.

But I’ll also admit… I’m looking forward to bedtime and a little “me time” — curling up with my book in bed. 📖

We spend so much time taking care of everyone else that it’s important to make time to recharge too.

One of the things I've loved most about interviewing women over the past few months is that no two stories are exactly alike. Every woman has a different experience, different challenges, and different hopes for the future.

But one theme keeps coming up.

So many of us want to teach our kids about money because we don't want them to struggle with the same questions, uncertainty, or mistakes we faced. We want to set them up for success. But what I've realized is that we're teaching them so much more than how to save, spend, or invest.

We're teaching them how we react when money is tight. Whether we believe there's always enough or never enough. Whether we allow ourselves to dream, set goals, and believe they're possible, or whether fear keeps us playing small. They learn those lessons long before we ever sit them down to talk about a budget.

Those are the conversations that have me so excited about the book I'm working on. It's becoming about so much more than money. It's about the beliefs, habits, and stories we pass down—often without even realizing it.

I'm still looking to interview parents who are willing to share their own experiences. If that sounds like you, I'd love to connect.

Back at work after a great week away, and I've been going through all the vacation pictures.

This one made me laugh all over again. 😂🦈

It's amazing how busy life gets. Between work, kids, practices, and trying to keep up with everything else on the calendar, it's easy to forget to just be goofy once in a while.

I'm really grateful we took the time to unplug, slow down, and make some great memories.

And yes... we couldn't pass up the giant shark photo. 😄

My husband and I have an ongoing debate about which is the true imposter cookie — oatmeal chocolate chip or oatmeal raisin. (I'll let you weigh in below. 👇)

We finally did what any modern couple does and took it to AI.

AI said: chocolate chip is better.
Husband was not satisfied.
So we asked AI to argue FOR oatmeal raisin.

It did. Enthusiastically. With bullet points. 😂

And honestly? That little moment stuck with me.

AI is an incredible tool. It can explain, research, simplify, and make you feel like you finally understand something that used to feel overwhelming. I use it. I love it.

But it will also tell you what you want to hear if you push it the right way.

And that matters — a lot — when the topic isn't cookies.

When you're navigating your finances, your mental health, your relationships, or any of the big stuff... you deserve someone who knows YOUR story. Who asks the hard questions. Who doesn't change their answer just because you asked twice.

AI is a beautiful starting place. A real professional is still irreplaceable.
