Today we're celebrating a huge milestone — and honoring the two people who made it all possible: Ed and Denise Smith.

36 years ago, Ed and Denise opened the doors of Kingsgate Insurance with a simple promise: treat every client like family. That promise became the foundation of everything we do today.

With the new school year, Kingsgate Insurance had the opportunity to partner with UnityPoint Health — Fort Dodge and Athletes For Education and Success (AFES) to make sure sixth graders in the community have a new pair of shoes to walk the halls. The Staff at Kingsgate raised enough money to purchase 40 pairs of shoes.

We had such a great time connecting with our community, meeting new faces, and celebrating downtown Fort Dodge alongside so many wonderful local businesses. It was a fantastic evening.

Today our team wore Calvert & Johnson Insurance shirts to show support for our own Josh Calvert, who recently lost his father.

Josh co-owned Calvert & Johnson, a legacy that his father, Larry, passed on to Josh after starting over 40 years ago with the Trost-Moeller agency, then Calvert, Singer & Kelley and finally Calvert & Johnson, in 2018. Josh joined our team in 2025. That history matters to us. Sending our love to Josh and his family during this time. 💙
