A note from Brandy-

This past week I joined over 700 insurance professionals in D.C. to talk with legislators about issues in the healthcare space and how our clients and community are impacted.

I was one of the 200+ first timers and while I had no experience and nothing to compare it to- I found it fascinating! Monday was spent hearing from various speakers on the issues and talking points we’d be focused on and Tuesday was spent at Capitol Hill. I participated in 6 meetings and shared with the representatives my front line experience specifically supporting our clients in the ACA and Medicare space. Our roles as trusted agents are necessary and valuable; the service we provide our communities is vital. We hear it everyday and wanted to share those voices with our legislators and policy makers.
I would say 1st time was a success! 🤩

Acknowledging and showing appreciation for the people who care for our loved ones is vital. Whether it is a family member or a caregiving service - showing them they are valued fosters goodwill and strengthens relationships. Even a heartfelt note can be beneficial. It can boost happiness in the giver and the receiver. To all the caregivers- You are needed and we appreciate you.

Spread kindness wherever you go. We never know what is going on in someone else's life. By practicing simple acts of kindness we could possibly turn around a bad day for someone. Acknowledging your checker at the grocery store. Buying that coffee for the stranger. Holding a door for someone. Each act says I see you and am glad you were part of my day.

February is National Cancer Prevention Month - a reminder that many cancers can be prevented. Studies show that 30-50% of cancers could be avoided through healthy habits like not smoking, eating well, staying active, and limiting alcohol (WHO). According to the American Cancer Society, nearly 44% of the 618,000+ cancer deaths in the US in 2025 could be linked to changeable risk factors. This month, lets focus on prevention, screening, and healthy choices to reduce risk and save lives.

February being National Heart Month brings awareness to our hearts. Not just on Valentine's Day but others as well. Congenital Heart Defect Awareness week is Feb. 7-14. Cardiac Professional Appreciation week is Feb. 7-15. Cardiac Rehabilitation and Heart Failure Awareness week is Feb 8-14. National Heart Valve Disease Awareness Day is Feb 22. Don't hesitate to take care of your heart and see your doctor should you have any symptoms.

National Blood Donor Month is in January, highlighting the critical need for blood donations during winter months when supplies often dwindle due to holidays and illness. Use locator tools (like AABB's Blood Bank Locator) to find donation sites. Your donation can save lives and makes the community a better place in so many ways. We appreciate you!

We have been assisting clients navigate the Medicare space for over 20 years and as our clients get older and have more complex health issues on top of annual plan changes and networks disruptions, our service is more valuable than ever. We are committed to doing the right thing for each client and over the years that sometimes means providing assistance or information for free and that’s ok, but no one should be expected to work for free and it’s not sustainable to think agents will be able to continue to do so. More importantly, clients should not be forced to figure this out on their own. Independent, licensed and experienced agents should be available to those who want the guidance.

What’s happening this year is not acceptable and can not be allowed to let stand.
