Edward Jones - Financial Advisor: Alex G. Nelson, CFPr, CKAr

Edward Jones - Financial Advisor: Alex G. Nelson, CFPr, CKAr I grew up running “Big Al’s Lawn Service,” learning hard work’s value. Now, as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®, I help clients craft strategies for their goals.

My wife, son, and I live in Hillsborough and love faith, family, and the outdoors. Growing up, I had a neighborhood lawn mowing business — Big Al’s Lawn Service — and spent weekends and summers learning the value of hard work and elbow grease. I took some of the money I made and asked my mother for the name and phone number of her financial advisor. That’s how I first found myself at Edward Jones,

as a client. Now, as a financial advisor with the firm, I believe it's essential that I invest my time to better understand your individual goals and needs before you invest your money with our team. From building the most appropriate financial strategy for you and your family to crafting a retirement savings strategy that provides you with options as you retire… My goal is to provide you with an unparalleled client experience. I was awarded the honor of being named to the 2025 Forbes Top Next-Gen Best-In-State Wealth Advisors in North Carolina*. I hold the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® certification and the Certified Kingdom Advisor® designation, all part of my quest to deeply serve investors and business owners. Assisting me in delivering top-notch service to our clients is my dedicated Branch Office Administrator, Annette Adkins. We're stronger together, and we look forward to seamlessly and comprehensively serving our clients' needs for many years to come. I was born, raised and started that little lawn mowing business here in North Carolina and attended High Point University. Now, my wife, Jordan, and I live in Hillsborough. We’re actively involved at The Summit Church, serving in Summit Kids and as small group leaders. We enjoy being outside — working out, boating, fishing, hiking and golfing. We welcomed our first child, a son, in 2023. Before too long, I imagine he’ll be out there mowing the grass, too. Please call the office today at (919) 973-1316 to schedule a complimentary initial consultation.

After beginning the year with markets pricing in multiple rate cuts, a sharply accelerating labor market and energy-driven inflation have meaningfully shifted the outlook toward potential policy tightening — creating a more complex backdrop for equities and fixed income alike. As investors look beyond Middle East tensions, U.S. economic fundamentals are coming into sharper focus, driven by an accelerating AI investment and robust corporate profit growth, reinforcing the constructive case for equities. However, elevated inflation may keep rate cuts off the table and limit near-term progress in bond markets.

Senior Economist James McCann explains what this could mean for investors in our Weekly Market Wrap.

Investing involves risk – and so does not investing. If you don’t invest, your money may not grow enough to allow you to reach your important long-term goals, such as a comfortable retirement.

I met my client and her husband years ago, knocking on doors, just trying to meet people and build my business.

A few weeks ago, she sat in my office after making arrangements at the funeral home, on her way to run a list of other errands no one ever wants to have.

That’s the side of this job people don’t really see much.

Don’t get me wrong, I get the really fun moments too. The weddings, anniversaries, dream trips finally booked, big debts paid off, kids graduating, retirements that are actually enjoyed. I love all of that. Seeing people do the work and then get to live it… it never gets old.

But sometimes, I’m one of the stops on one of the hardest days of someone’s life. Or one of the calls they have to make. And that means a lot to me.

To be trusted in that moment, to help take even a couple things off their plate when everything feels heavy… that’s not something I take lightly.

This job isn’t just about planning.
It's about people.
