Copic is proud to announce Dr. Alice Lehman as the recipient of the 2026 Copic/MMA Foundation Humanitarian Award in Minnesota. This annual award recognizes physicians for their volunteer medical service and contributions to their communities. Dr. Lehman is an infectious disease physician at the University of Minnesota whose volunteer service expands access to care for urban, rural, and tribal communities across the state.

For four weeks each year, Dr. Lehman volunteers pediatric and internal medicine services at the White Earth Indian Health Service Unit. She also provides ongoing telemedicine consultations for hepatitis C management, helping bring specialized infectious disease care to rural Indigenous communities without requiring patients to travel. She has also helped build a student-led street medicine program serving the Twin Cities and Duluth.

Dr. Lehman's service reflects a deep commitment to health equity. Whether volunteering in a tribal clinic, supporting medical students at an urban outreach event, or helping develop screening guidance, she works quietly and consistently to lower barriers, build trust, and improve access to compassionate care.

In recognition of the award, Dr. Lehman has directed the accompanying $10,000 donation from Copic to the University of Minnesota Foundation to continue activities that bridge and expand access to care. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Alice Lehman!

Our Patient Safety & Risk Management team recently got together to volunteer for Colorado’s A Precious Child, donating supplies and assembling kits of personal care items for children and families facing economic hardship. With some of our remote employees in town, it was a great opportunity to bring the team together for a fun and meaningful project.

We are proud to share that the 2026 Utah COPIC Humanitarian Award has been given to Dr. Johnnie Cook.

Presented in partnership with the Utah Medical Association, this award recognizes Dr. Cook’s lifelong contributions to healthcare. He began volunteering at Seager Memorial Clinic in 1996 and has since provided more than 1,000 hours of no-cost medical care, serving as Board Chairman since 2019. His leadership also helped transform Ogden’s former Family History Center into a new facility ten times the size of the previous site, creating opportunities to expand services and improve access to care.

This award honors physicians for their volunteer medical service and contributions to their communities. In recognition of the award, Dr. Cook directed the accompanying $10,000 donation to Seager Memorial Clinic.

We recently presented the 2026 Colorado COPIC Humanitarian Award to Dr. Philip Mohler.

A family physician in Grand Junction since 1974, Dr. Mohler has delivered more than 300 babies, cared for nursing home patients after retiring from full-time practice, volunteered with Mesa County Public Health, devoted countless hours to the Community Food Bank, and demonstrated an unwavering commitment to public health and improving access to healthcare.

This award recognizes physicians for their volunteer medical service and contributions to their communities. In recognition of the award, Dr. Mohler directed the accompanying $10,000 donation to the Good Samaritan Free Medical Clinic of Western Colorado. This year the World Health Organization is focusing on safe care for non-communicable diseases, like cardiovascular diseases, cancers, diabetes, and chronic respiratory diseases that can affect people of all ages. It’s a reminder of the importance of patient safety and the continual efforts to improve healthcare.

We're proud to honor Dr. Rebecca Steinke as the recipient of the 2026 Copic Humanitarian Award in Nebraska in coordination with the Nebraska Medical Association.

For nearly three decades, Dr. Steinke has dedicated her time and expertise to caring for underserved patients through the Third City Community Clinic in Grand Island, Nebraska. She also volunteers her time providing student physicals for local schools and within her church. She leads with care and has made a meaningful difference.

This award recognizes physicians for their volunteer medical service and contributions to their communities. In recognition of the award, Dr. Steinke directed the accompanying $10,000 donation to the Third City Community Clinic. The clinic provides healthcare and prescription assistance to individuals without insurance and serves as an important resource for patients who may otherwise have limited access to care.
