A: Because Medicare drug plans don't all cover the same medications. Each plan has its own formulary, or list of covered drugs. Check your medications, dosage and pharmacy before choosing a plan.

A: Yes. Medicare Advantage plans have a yearly maximum out-of-pocket limit for covered Medicare services. Once you reach your plan's limit, the plan pays 100% of covered services for the rest of the year. The amount varies by plan

A: You may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period if you move, depending on where you move and your current coverage. Moving can give you an opportunity to switch Medicare Advantage or Part D plans.

Q: Is Medicare Open Enrollment the same as ACA Marketplace Open Enrollment?

A: No. Medicare Open Enrollment is specifically for Medicare coverage. If you already have Medicare, you generally cannot purchase a Marketplace plan to replace or supplement it.

Question: Can I get a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plan if I switch to Original Medicare?

Answer: You can apply for Medigap, but Medigap enrollment rules are different from Medicare Open Enrollment. Depending on your circumstances, you may not have guaranteed-issue rights, and medical underwriting may apply.

Question: Can I switch from Medicare Advantage to Original Medicare during Open Enrollment?

Answer: Yes. During October 15ā€“December 7, you can switch from Medicare Advantage to Original Medicare. If you do, you may also need a separate Part D prescription drug plan. Underwriting will apply if this change is elected.
