There are two ways to run a business. React when something changes, or plan before it does.

The companies that plan ahead review their risks regularly, evaluate their workforce strategy before problems surface, and make sure their coverage keeps pace with their operations.

It does not take a major overhaul. It takes consistent attention to the areas that matter: your risk profile, your people, and your growth plan.

Proactive planning is not about predicting the future. It is about being ready for it.

A strong risk strategy is not built around what happens after an incident. It is built around reducing the chances one happens at all.

The companies that get the best results invest in training, build safety protocols their teams actually follow, and make loss control part of how they operate every day.

When employees understand the risks in their environment, incidents go down. Claims go down. And that shows up at renewal.

Building a safer workplace is not just good for your people. It is good for your business.

From how your plan is structured to how it is communicated to employees, small blind spots can quietly erode the return on what you are investing.

On August 20, Amy Dieterich from Intrepid Benefits will share strategies to uncover those gaps and get more from your benefits program without starting from scratch.

If you are an HR professional, business owner, or part of benefits decisions at your company, this one is worth your time.

Colorado just gave employers a new tool to challenge workers' comp premiums that were calculated using inflated claim estimates.

Senate Bill 26-175 creates a process for eligible employers to request a corrected Experience Modification Factor when claims close for less than originally estimated. For some businesses, that correction could mean lower premiums.

The key detail: it is not automatic. Employers need to monitor their claims, understand the deadlines, and work with an advisor who can guide the process.

Not sure if this applies to your business? We can help you find out.

A lot can change in six months. New hires, new contracts, new equipment. Growth is good, but when your planning does not keep up, it creates gaps.

Six months in is the right moment to step back and look at the full picture. Has your workforce changed? Are your coverages still aligned with your operations? Are you current on compliance?

Catching what has shifted now is a lot cheaper than finding out at renewal. If you have not done a mid-year check-in yet, it is worth putting on the calendar.

A strong benefits program does more than attract candidates. It keeps your best people from looking elsewhere.

But here is the thing: benefits that worked when you built your team three years ago may not reflect what your workforce needs today. Expectations evolve. So should your approach.

Regularly reviewing your benefits is one of the most effective ways to strengthen retention and show your employees that the investment goes both ways.

If it has been a while since you looked at your benefits strategy, now is a good time to start.

Hiring extra hands for the summer rush? 🍽️

If you run a restaurant, bar, or hotel, those seasonal hires change your payroll, and workers' comp premiums are tied right to it. That is how summer staffing can turn into a surprise at audit time.

Our latest blog, written by our own Sean Hughes, walks through how it works and what to keep track of during the busy season so your audit goes smoothly.

Quick question for the business owners following along: has anything changed since January? 📋

New hires, a new truck, new equipment, a bigger contract? For most of the businesses we work with, the answer is yes, and coverage does not always keep up on its own.

Summer is a good time for a quick mid-year check so there are no surprises when renewal comes around.

Summer means more miles for a lot of the businesses we work with. 🚛

More time on the road also means more exposure, whether you run one work truck or a full fleet. Heat, traffic, and seasonal drivers all add up.

Before the busy stretch really hits, it is worth a quick look at your drivers, your vehicle list, and whether your coverage still fits how you actually operate.
