HAPPY PRIDE!! June is Pride month, but specifically, this weekend in Denver there will be many fun events to celebrate. My family is deeply grateful for all those who fought before us to pave the way to provide us the rights we enjoy every day: marriage, freedom of expression, and the basic right of being a family. That being said...
We have a long way to go, folx. Same-sex marriage wasn’t fully legalized in the United States until 2015, and it’s currently only legalized in a handfull of countries worldwide. Although the US seems to be pretty progressive when it comes to gay rights, there are often occurances in our country that are still holding us back from moving forward and being more accepting of the LGBTQ+ community. Transphobic and homophoic policies (amongst many other thibgs!) are keeping our country from moving forward with LGBTQ+ rights.
This month (and every month), we ask that you pay attention and engage for the sake of our family and countless other individuals and families. Fight the fights with us and for us. Support your LGBTQ+ friends and family. Show up. Celebrate what makes you unique, and be open to loving and accepting everyone around you. We can only move forward if we are in it together.
