🌟💥 Exciting news! 💥🌟
Next week I start the Trauma of Money Professional online certification course! Expanding financial literacy is the pinnacle of my “why” when it comes to being in the mortgage industry, and I have been 👀eying👀 this course for a couple of years now.
It goes beyond “I’m just bad with money.” Financial literacy isn't just about budgets, numbers, and balancing checkbooks (ha, anyone still balancing an actual checkbook?!?). It's about understanding the emotional and psychological relationship we have with money, and then understanding our choices and feeling empowered by them. Integral to exploring our individual financial literacy is recognizing the financial trauma that most of us have experienced at some point, whether it be individual, generational, societal, or systemic. Financial trauma is often overlooked and widely misunderstood, yet it deeply impacts the money beliefs and behaviors of individuals, communities, and our world.
I’m looking forward to the TOM course to open these conversations and help me challenge my own embedded beliefs. If you’re interested in following along, let me know! I am going to fully immerse myself in this course, so I plan to write and reflect a lot. I would love to keep the conversation going here and I could share some reflections after each session.
If you're interested in learning more about the Trauma of Money courses - check it out below. There is the professional pathway, that I'm taking, to become certified to use the TOM methods within your own work (great for financial advisors, therapists, counsellors, non-profits, etc) or there is a personal path if you are interested in healing your own relationship with money.
