💰 $20,000 donated to your nonprofit doesn’t always mean $20,000 available to spend anywhere you choose.

🌟 CEO Sunday: Success Also Looks Like This

As CEOs, entrepreneurs, professionals, parents, and leaders, it’s easy to become so focused on the next goal, the next deadline, and the next level that we forget to enjoy the life we’re working so hard to build.

On August 22nd, I attended McHenry’s 80’s Theme Night with my family, and it was such a beautiful reminder that rest, laughter, family time, and community are part of success too. ❤️

Sometimes the best moments happen when we simply step away from our busy schedules, get out into the community, and enjoy the people around us.

Leadership isn’t only about how much we accomplish. It’s also about being present, creating memories, building meaningful relationships, and enjoying the journey along the way.

That evening reminded me of something I want to carry into this new week:

💗 Make time for what fills your soul.
🤝 Support and connect with your community.
👨‍👩‍👧 Be present with the people who matter.
🚀 Then return to your goals refreshed and ready to keep building.

Because at the end of the day, we’re not just building businesses—we’re building lives, relationships, and legacies.

The best accountant-client relationships aren’t built once a year at tax time.

They’re built when you:

✨ Ask questions 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 making major financial decisions
✨ Share the full picture—even when the books are messy
✨ Don’t wait until there’s a problem to reach out
✨ See your accountant as a business resource, not just a tax preparer
✨ Understand that good financial guidance works best when we work 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿

You don’t have to know everything about accounting to run a successful business.

But you should have someone you trust enough to say:

“I 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀. 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗲?”

And there should be ZERO embarrassment in asking that question.

But does your business actually have $30,000 available to spend? 👀

Your bank balance does NOT automatically equal your profit.

Some of that money may already be needed for:

💳 Credit card payments
📦 Inventory or upcoming expenses

And here's another important distinction:

A business can be profitable on paper and still struggle with cash flow—or have plenty of cash in the bank while actually operating at a loss.

That’s why looking at your bank balance alone doesn’t tell you how healthy your business really is.
