Tired of your kids begging for sugary snacks at every gas station? Here's an idea to help your kids learn sound financial habits during summer vacations!
Before the trip starts, provide them with a budgeted amount of cash for the trip (e.g. $30). Talk with them about categories for spending it, such as food or souvenirs. Consider having them separate the money into categories in advance. Then, let them know the cash is theirs to spend as they wish on the trip.
This way, they learn about budgeting in a practical way, and you avoid having to make a decision every time they beg for something sparkly!
